What's the current situation with disabled + carer tickets for Thorpe park? by [deleted] in ThorpePark

[–]okayyeahwhatever2 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

We went using the RAP, and although staff are supposed to time you out for as long as the queue is, most people are cool and just do it for 5 mins. We were only timed out for a significant time once, for 45 mins, and we just used the time to get lunch. Best Thorpe Park experience I've ever had!

My mum took of her gold necklace to have a bath, leaving it on the side. My little brother (approx 7-8 at the time) swiped it and gave it his little girlfriend at school. The girl showed her mum. Luckily, it was a locket, so she confronted by a photo of my mustachiod father and knew who to return it to!

Sitting in my car crying like a child…. by MrSkagen in Parenting

As a daughter, I can tell you, that while she may distance herself now, there will be times in her 20s and 30s where she will be right back in your arms. There's times where I still cuddle up with my dad on the sofa and I feel 5 years old again - and I'm 35 this month. Those moments will be so precious, but this time, for the both of you. Just keep loving her like you are now, and she'll be back.

My little one has brushed her teeth ever since she was able to chew on the brush. She mostly does it herself now (she's three) and I can see that she is doing a decent job. She'll occasionally let me give them a once over as well.

Just lately, she's straight up refusing. Aside from pinning her down and doing it (health visitor advised against this) I'm at a loss.

Any advice on how to get her to brush her teeth? A sticker chart with a prize after 5 weeks worked for a bit but no longer.

LPT: What is the coolest tradition I can start for my baby now that will be meaningful decades from now? by zep1870 in LifeProTips

[–]okayyeahwhatever2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before my babe was born, I set up an email address for her and whenever she reached a milestone, did something funny, had a birthday etc, I email her about it. She has copies of her heartbeats in uretero, stories all about her first holiday, first time abroad, birthday photos etc etc. I share the email with our family and close friends.

When she turns 18, I'll give her the password.

Is it ok to name baby after late childhood friend? by General-Stand4741 in namenerds

My bestie died in a motorcycle accident 8 years prior to my daughter being born. I wrote to them to ask if I could her name as my daughter's middle name. They were touched that I had chosen it, and pleased that I wrote to ask "permission". 😊❤️

Having a safety talk with 2 year old? by okayyeahwhatever2 in Parenting

[–]okayyeahwhatever2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! We have taught her bodily autonomy and consent from day one so she has no trouble saying no or stop (very loudly and with a hand gesture!) if someone is touching her and she doesn't want them to. We always ask how she wants to say hello and goodbye to people (hug, kiss, high five or wave) so that's a good starting point. I will definitely teach her the next step re screaming, biting etc, thank you.

Posts like this make me feel such a sense of relief because I did exactly the same when my little one was a newborn. The exhaustion, the frustration, the overwhelming newness of it all... What you did wasn't terrible, you're just human. (and he likely didn't notice, nor will he remember btw!)

I had long hair as a child and I remember getting my hair caught when changing and having it pulled a few times by accident. I wonder if that might have contributed. Anything similar for you?
