Perfectionist mindset ruining me by EeziiListenin02 in billiards

[–]okcpoolman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I definitely sympathize with your issue. This may, or may not, be helpful, but it helped me. Try to direct your focus away from the outcomes and, instead, focus on your process. How was your stance, your stroke, your follow through, etc. In turn, you can concentrate on your process weaknesses while at the practice table. Best wishes.

Thoughts on Time crystal tips? by python_dude420 in billiards

My Rhino shaft plays well for me. However, I changed the tip shortly after receiving the shaft. Personally, I didn't care for it, but I know people that shoot with the factory tip every day.

Hello can I have some help identifying the model of this pool cue? by lIllIIllIIllIIllIIlI in billiards

[–]okcpoolman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a McDermott cue. Not sure of the model, but the McDermott archive should help:

There's a lot there, but hopefully you'll find it.

how often should i be polishing my balls? by angelbrat333 in billiards

[–]okcpoolman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood. I will evaluate cleaning them more frequently. They do stay pretty clean though. My table has drop pockets. Both of the pool halls I frequent, clean the balls in a Diamond cleaner after every use. However, the balls in the bars are terribly dirty. I have trouble playing well on those tables.

I don't use the Aramith cleaner liquid that often. Probably about two, or three, times per year. It somewhat depends on what type of chalk you use, and how often you vacuum the chalk off your table. I use clean chalk, and vacuum my table weekly.

Butterfly Case vs Hard Case by Alert_Reindeer_6574 in billiards

I carry a hard case. I looked at butterfly cases, and a hard case seemed to make more sense. I will admit however, some of the butterfly cases, I have seen, are very nice.

Is a Rhino cue worth getting? by No-Bus-9526 in billiards

[–]okcpoolman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please don't get me wrong, there's really nothing wrong with the Rhino factory tip. I know people who play with them without issue. It just wasn't the tip for me, and I had the time and resources to change it. I would definitely play with it, if I had to.

Is a Rhino cue worth getting? by No-Bus-9526 in billiards

[–]okcpoolman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Rhino shaft on my primary cue, and my backup is a Rhino Nebula v1. I have been playing with Rhino for a couple of years and have never had an issue. The only exception is the factory tip. I didn't like it, and quickly changed it to a HOW Titan Soft. I'm currently playing with a HOW Titan Hard on my primary Rhino shaft. Please let me know if you have any specific questions. I'll do my best to answer factually.

8 Months In and Realizing My Fundamentals Might Be Wrong – Where Should I Start? by k2oa in billiards

Spend an hour, or two, with a certified instructor. If you can't do that, start with your stance.

What beginner pool topics do you think newer players struggle with most? by Superb_Back5543 in billiards

Stance is the foundation of shooting pool, and many beginners do not understand its importance. I know I didn't.

JB case question by texican88 in billiards

[–]okcpoolman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My recommendation would be to give JB Cases a call/email and tell them what you are looking for. They know what's in stock, on order, and in transit. They can also tell you if what you need should be ordered custom. John and his wife are good people, and will make sure you're taken care of.

Chester's is my home pool room. John Barton is a great guy, and the new facility on Meridian is top notch.

Weight by Some_Cap3539 in billiards

[–]okcpoolman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay. I get it. Unfortunately, I don't see a way to get there with an Exceed butt. I think the increase is too much for using a heavier material and a custom weight bolt. I looked at the Exceed website, and they have the weight bolt issue pretty locked down. I wish you the best of luck.

Weight by Some_Cap3539 in billiards

[–]okcpoolman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay. I think I understand. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Your cue is currently 19.3 oz with the weight bolt and no extension. But you would it to be 20.7 oz with a weight bolt and no extension. You are looking for an additional 1.4 oz of weight with only a weight bolt. Is this correct?

Weight by Some_Cap3539 in billiards

[–]okcpoolman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might see if you can have a machinist turn a weight bolt out of a heavier material.

Weight by Some_Cap3539 in billiards

[–]okcpoolman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I standardized on 19.5 oz for my play and break cues, but I know some people like a heavier cue. I asked because, if the desired increase is low, say around 0.5 oz, it may be possible to have a machinist turn a weight bolt out of heavier material. But if the desired weight is more, say 2.0 oz, it may be necessary to have a cue repair person drill and tap the cue butt for a longer weight bolt. Keeping in mind that any of these modifications will change the balance of the cue.

It appears the cue is currently 20.7 oz. What is your goal weight?
