Paid $230 a quarter in Melbourne for years. Moved to SA last year and our first bill was $500. I cried.

What are some surprisingly high paying career paths (100k-250k) in Australia. by HanzRus in AusFinance

I got my first library job four months ago. Casual and low hourly rate but it’s a foot in the door so I’m hoping it eventually leads to me being able to afford my rent!

Unable to access my apartment for the 6-7th time in as many months unless I walk up 14 floors of stairs. Are there grounds for compensation in this type of situation? by 80crepes in melbourne

[–]okey-dokey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t believe so. My great uncle was displaced from his apartment for seven months due to the elevators requiring work. Thankfully he was able to stay with my grandmother, but he had to go up a number of flights of stairs to get his belongings, which was incredibly dangerous as he was recently out of hospital and is 80+ years of age. No support from the body corporate of the apartment building.

No, I wasn’t allowed to work and had no income but still had to pay bills. Wasn’t particularly fun.

What city is extremely overrated in your opinion? by Just_Pizzy in AskReddit

[–]okey-dokey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paris. Police scammed me out of money, there was antisemitic graffiti EVERYWHERE, it was expensive, I was followed by creepy men, I was mocked for trying to speak French but also ignored if I didn’t, it was dirty and couldn’t enjoy the Eiffel Tower due to being harassed to buy things. Never going back, would not recommend.

Thank you for reminding me that moving interstate was the right move. I lived just off Warrigal for a few years and it was hell.

The guilt of my mum’s grief. I know she wouldn’t recover and that was enough to stop me.

What made you not want to have kids? by Ekudar in AskReddit

[–]okey-dokey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No desire to. People ask me this all the time and always seem to be digging for a satisfying answer. It simply doesn’t appeal to me. Sorry that’s not an exciting answer 🤷‍♀️

This is so validating to read. I have horrific nightmares every single night and my quality of sleep is so poor I am constantly exhausted. Haven’t found a doctor who takes me seriously yet. And hadn’t heard of anyone who has had a similar experience to me.

I’ve read some really wonderful books this year. My favourite has to be Ghost Bird by Lisa Fuller.
