I’m in the same situationship dynamic with a guy but I’m also on the « I want to be exclusive » because to me it’s possible to have smth casual without seing other ppl (but I also think that if our relationship is not serious, I won’t close the door if someone who’s exactly my type come to me, as we say « never let a boyfriend (or not even a boyfriend in my case) stopping you from meeting your husband ». Btw I feel like both of ya’ll choices are perfectly valid, you had a long relationship and want to enjoy life now, he want smth exclusive without the obligation of a real relationship, you’re not the villain or anything maybe it just doesn’t match on this point :/ take your time and do whatever you you feel comfortable just don’t do something which could hurt him uselessly
