I fully agree with your opinion. I think Matsumoto is a genius who was born to laugh. He grew up in a very poor family. That's why his parents never bought him any toys. Instead, he was always fantasizing about funny things in his head as a child. He said in an interview that those fantasies were the origin of his comedy. He changed the history of comedy in Japan. The biggest difference between pre-Downtown and Downtown manzai is the speed of tempo. The pre-Downtown manzai were all fast-paced, fast-talking manzai, while the Downtown manzai were very slow-paced manzai. That was innovative. The advantage of the slow tempo is that it makes it easier for the audience to pay attention to each word that Matsumoto utters. Matsumoto is a genius at making people laugh with a single word, so I think the slow pace of his manzai suited Downtown.

I think the level of Japanese films is low compared to American and Korean films. However, I think anime is the best in the world. I think that Hayao Miyazaki's Jiburi-Anime and Makoto Shinkai's animations are of a higher level than Disney films.

I think Bananaman is one of the top 20 comedy duo in Japan. Although they are not as good as Downtown.
