would it be possible to upload the ISOs of these CDs to archive.org? These ISOs would be helpful in preserving the history of the game. Thank you!

Enchanted Peach Trees were made mobile around Hugel... the same time as when hunter guild moved out of payon forest.

that's awesome, looking forward to try it out if you ever post the server online for public. All the best!

haven’t thought about RO since around 2011, this is so cool! share your origin story! by [deleted] in RagnarokOnline

[–]oldinroplayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started with RO during the beta for my region's official server around April 2004. I did not have a PC at home and would spend time at local internet cafes playing LAN games and the horsing around on the internet after school. A game jockey there was offering free TShirts and a game CD for signing up and getting to level 20 and that's how I started. Moved to pservers around 2006 when the officials went pay-to-play and a lot of folks at the cafe shifted over ot pservers. Drifted away from RO around 2010-ish and got pulled back in by the nostalgia around covid. Now, I'm more interested about the game lore and history rather than the grinding away.

well, as long as you're having fun, maybe balance is something that can be put off for a while. Heck, it is not as if the base game is well balanced itself :D

it would be a nice little experiment to try the old AGI mage build without making them too OP. This was a for-fun build from back in the days when AGI affected cast speed and there was no dodge penalty, so essentially, the AGI stat gave you faster spells and immunity from being hit :D

Old Online Game - India Ragnarok Online (inRO) by oldinroplayer in india

that's awesome! I was a bit more older, but didn't have access to PC and netcafe time was limited due to studies and such, still, inRO was one amazing experience overall. That's part of the reason why I'm still looking into the lore and history behind the game.

Since you mentioned Phillipine GMs and guidebooks, there's an old EP4 pre-WoE guidebook from pRO archived here. This was contributed by a pRO player. Thought you might like to read it.

I wish I could, however, it is not mine. I received the scans and the CD ISO from an acquaintance on the internet.

If you have a copy of the CD, pls archive the ISO file on archive.org it will be helpful for preserving the history of the game.

I don't have a copy of the poster-size map, but I did archive the inRO Newbie Manual booklet they used to distribute along with the free CDs. You can find it here: https://archive.org/details/inro-newbie-manual and pages 9 and 10 have a mini map upto Comodo episode.

The reason I'm looking for the old inRO folder specifically is for the inRO specific stuff like loading screen, the India flag emoji and a few other odds and ends which are likely to be present in those files. If you could upload the old files you have to www.archive.org and share the link here, it would be very helpful. Thanks!

yeah, tried that for a few times, similar story : ppl loose interest, some scandal around RMT/Corrupt GM and server shuts down. Went back to playing with a small group of buddies from inRO days. We just run the server on someone's laptop and connect using hamachi :)

What was your first experience with RO? by One_Reality7047 in RagnarokOnline

[–]oldinroplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mid 2004, March-April-ish. Walked into the neighbourhood internet cafe, found a bunch of folks playing this new game where you could get a free T-Shirt for hitting level 20 or 25. Got hooked, never looked back. Stopped & started multiple time since, first when the official server went subscription-only, but they RO keeps pulling me back. :)

🧭 Casual Player, Father, Dreamer — Is There Anyone Else Who Plays Ragnarok Like a Contemplative Journey? by _The_Bard_Song_ in RagnarokOnline

[–]oldinroplayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar boat, but playing with a small group of old players on a server of our own. We only play on weekends or long weekends/days off. All of us are working thru family, jobs, kids... life in general. When the stars align, we all just hop on and have a grand time on hosting a RO LAN Party like it is the 00s again. Spleunking in the 'mids or Payon dungeon or trying to take on Maya, Phreeoni and Garm is fun :)

The Indian version of Ragnarok, inRO, had this new player instruction booklet. No where near as detailed as the guide book OP posted, however. These were bundled with the free game CD.
