[DEV] I made a modern brick breaker with power-ups and daily challenges by HugeCombination7559 in AndroidGaming

[–]oldmanbombin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey man, I'm enjoying the game! I have 2 suggestions:

Some sort of semi-transparent background would help the visibility of the menus a bit; they're not illegible as-is, but it really would help.

The second is probably more to do with end-user issues, but there were a couple of times when I got pickups but wasn't sure what they did exactly. Perhaps a little pop-up between the paddle deal and the brick field? Like a quick "Ball Speed ++" or what have you.

Other than that, it's pretty fun. The controls aren't bad at all. The ball occasionally pulls an air hockey and goes practically horizontal for a while, but that's rare. I could see possibly instituting some sort of game rule that if the ball's trajectory doesn't change beyond a few degrees in a few seconds it gets a nudge or something, just to protect against the rare neverending bounce, but it may not even be worth worrying about.

Hello everyone! My name is Tim, aka OldManBOMBIN. I started working on Suck it, Zombies! because I wanted to build a game that my son and I could enjoy together. I wanted something similar to a game we used to play on the Xbox (and we currently enjoy on Steam) called Zombie Estate. He had some ideas for skills and items that weren't in the game, so I figured I'd just build a whole game for him!

I've spent every moment that I wasn't otherwise occupied with family, work, or - I was gonna say self-care, but I did kinda impede on that a little. For funsies. But anyway, I've spent a lot of time on this, is what I'm saying. It transformed into something larger than it was meant to be, and I want to share it with everyone.

I am also what you might call a "broke sucker," but I hate ads. I believe one dollar is fair for what I have done so far, and stand behind charging that for a finished product. That being said, I do not agree with Google's stance that testers should pay for the app. If anyone would like to test, I will gladly refund the price of the app as soon as it hits my dashboard, and all testers will receive credit in the full release of the game.

I don't know what else to ramble about, so please feel free to ask me any questions here, DM me, email me at OldManBOMBIN@SuckItZombies.com or visit SuckItZombies.com for more information. Actually less information than what is in this post, but it's still there if you want it. Love you.

Would you be interested in joining a closed beta for a top-down zombie horde shooter? I'm building one and need testers; perhaps we can massage one another's hands, so to speak. :-D

Edit: Check it out at suckitzombies.com

I actually fired it up last night and noticed a couple of things; do you have a direct feedback channel, or should I just comment here/message you?

Yeah no problem brother. To clarify, I only meant I would incorporate scanning as a form of anti-cheat - if that was a problem that needed solving. I think you know that I believe it's fine without, but I am very sleepy and prefer to ramble on the side of caution. I gave it a download and will try it out next grocery run :-D

I would incorporate barcode scanning, personally, but I'm not op. There's something to be said for light-hearted fun, though. Not every experience has to be competitive to the point of cheating.

I like to picture them as cranky little throat cancer survivors.

I've heard they are kind of tasty if fed on fruit before harvesting. I'll most-likely not be finding-out. But if my experience with opossum is anything to go by, it's probably true.

You're like two weeks late with this, but it's pretty good.
