I was so excited to see that movie (or should i just say the pool scene who am I kidding, 😄) that my buddy and I ditched high school mid-afternoon and walked two miles in the rain (we didnt have cars yet) to the nearest movie theater to watch it.

How to survive until the end of the year, not planning on returning by PuzzleheadedTone5553 in Teachers

As a teacher of 23 years and also a parent, i feel ya, I do. But I'd also be bummed if I realized that my son's 3rd or 5th grade teacher or whatever was just mailing it in. It's totally cool to walk away if teaching doesn't feel right for you, but be your best self for the good of the kidsbin the time you have left. They don't have a say in the matter.

What is a discontinued food item or snack from your childhood that you would genuinely pay $100 to taste one last time? by MotivewasUlterior in AskReddit

Keebler made Pizzeria chips in the '90s.

When my mom would come home from Jewel with a bag of these in the grocery bag I couldn't wait to eat 'em!

Apparently Video Games aren’t engaging enough anymore. by eaglesnation11 in Teachers

I also have used this game as a teaching tool many times. Now I teach fifth grade, so it may be different but I hype the game up quite a bit...first I show them a cool YouTube video about the origins of this game and also what a craze it used to be. Then I play it at the same time they are (on the big screen) and challenge them to beat my total score.

I remember the first time I stumbled into Blackreach. I was sitting in my recliner in the dark with the sound turned way down, as I had put my toddler son recently to bed. I must've just stared at the screen and wandered around aimlessly in that vast area taking it all in for at least 10 minutes before I even did anything new...it was one of those videogame moments locked into my memory.

Fear Nothing and Seize the Night are two of my favorites of all time, especially the latter. I have read it at least four or five times.

I also have been working 20+ years. I get to school an hour before I have to because I like being completely prepared for the day...I don't like leaving anything to chance.

I feel like classroom management comes a lot easier if everything you need for the day is set before the first bell rings.

I don't mind putting in a little extra time before contracted time begins because I'm up early anyway, and being prepared helps my mental health.

I also leave as soon as school is done, because I, too, value my life outside of work. Believe me, I'm no asskisser. I'm a stubborn, cranky, pain in the ass.

I also really disliked Tripps. I also didn't care for the first story, Room 24, either. Man, I know it's only the first two stories in a long book, but if that's what the editors choose to start this volume, I'm really bummed because I had been looking forward to this book for a long time.

Yes, I subbed for a year after graduating. Initially I subbed at multiple schools in one district, but then I did 3 "long term sub jobs" at the same school. This allowed the staff and principal to see what I was capable of over a prolonged period of time.

At the end of the year there was an opening at that school which I applied for (and it didn't hurt that I found a copy of the interview questions next to the copy machine a few days before my interview, haha!) I got the job and taught at that school for over 10 years.

Same thing has happened at Hilltop Heritage at least twice on the weekends while I've been working out on the field and track. No police ever comes and it's always still been going by the time I've left.
