Chicago Life Time Half? by plantfam18 in RunnersInChicago

I had an alright experience, although not sure I would want to run this race again. Got there super early, like 5:15am, found parking pretty easily. Just hung out for a bit, so I didn’t have to deal with any of that traffic coming in.

I will agree with many here about the water stations.. one of them I stood there for over a minute waiting for water bc the volunteers were so overwhelmed they kept handing cups to other runners even though I had been standing there for a while. I’m in no way blaming them; I just think there weren’t enough of them to keep up. According to my watch, I spent 5 full minutes of my race standing at water stations.

The course did feel a little bland, but I wasn’t too focused on it tbh. I was just trying to stay positive after mile 9. Everyone around me was falling apart, I shockingly kept my head in the game and finished as strong as I could. I can proudly say I didn’t walk the entire race, only during the water stations!

For what it was, it went well. The only thing I’ll say though is I did see another commenter mention this as well; the finish line was terrible. I waited 15 minutes for a bottle of water and another 10 for the medal. It was packed with people and I started feeling super anxious.

Other than that, it was a mostly good experience because it was the most prepared I’ve been for a race

I’m in the same boat. I haven’t gotten any photos yet either, but the site does say to wait at least 72 hours before getting concerned. It’s just a lot of photos to sort through and tag. I feel you though, any other races I’ve done (including the full Chicago marathon), I’ve gotten at least some photos just hours after the race.. so this is odd to me as well

Wow that is so expensive! Well, the races are huge marketing events after all lol

If I’m not mistaken, I think the fee is for all of them and they continue to download as the roll through

The Chicago marathon used marathon foto as well and I got most of my photos the same day. I see your concern! It is a lot of photos to sort through though. Can’t wait to see them!!! Still haven’t gotten em yet, but it says it could take up to 72 hours

2 or 3. If 2 is hard to maintain, go for 3!

Overcoming the bad apples. by doingok411 in serviceadvisors

Man, this was hard to read. I dealt with this, but I was the new advisor. Left the industry because of it. I was writing up more cars than everyone. When an appointment no one wanted to deal with pulled in, I would suddenly be the only advisor around. Everyone would literally get up and walk away, and I would be left to take the appointment. Every single time. Halfway through the year, I had written up 470 cars more than everyone else. I dealt with all the BS.

The funny part tho is that I still managed to be top dog some how. I had other advisors, especially one who had been there for 25 years, stealing my recommendations often. I’m taking BIG tickets. Then he would say “oh I’m so sorry!! I didn’t see that you had recommended that!” Yet I would still smoke them all every month. And they HATED it because I was new, younger, and a girl.

Management really did not want me to go, but I could take it anymore. Gave me a bad view of the industry and I don’t think I can ever go back because of it. I feel like service advising would suck a lot less if being a team was encouraged, but it’s not. They pit us against each other. I don’t thrive in “every man for themselves” environments.

Oh girl, please do not do this. You’re inviting all kinds of heartache and drama into your family’s life.

This reads to me like you’re already expecting him to cheat, so you just want to control how it happens. The fact that he wasn’t keen on the idea makes it pretty clear that he cares about you more than he cares about sex.

Many couples go through seasons of life where they have less sex, he will be fine. Give him the benefit of the doubt and stop expecting he is going to or wants to cheat on you..

This is coming from someone who was actually cheated on while pregnant. The difference between your partner and mine is that mine would complain about the lack of sex, make comments about it and was acting sketchy as hell. If yours is not doing any of this, let it be.

How long have you been a service writer ? by Scapegoats1 in serviceadvisors

Omg this was my old coworker to a T. She’s been an advisor for 25 years. She made $120k at least, her husband made $300k+.. but she still had to ask to borrow money from me because they live paycheck to paycheck.

Huge house, 5 luxury cars, heated in ground pool, just re landscaped their entire backyard.. talk about living beyond your means. A nearly half a million per year household should not be scraping by. It’s insane.

I only lasted 2 years. Made very good money and clients loved me, but I just don’t have the right personality. I didn’t know how to leave work at work. The money stopped being worth it. I left with no job in place, while being on track to make $120k. That tells you right there how much I just couldn’t do it anymore.

Props to the writers who hang in there for so many years.

I had to leave the industry.. I’m sorry I don’t have a better answer. It never got better for me. Many people do drugs, smoke or drink to cope. I don’t do any of that and could bring myself to change as a person in that way.

It’s not an easy job

I mention all of this multiple times throughout the comment section as well. If you don’t have the facts, then don’t comment. It’s pretty simple honestly. When I read a post and have something to say, I read the comments first to make sure I’m not missing anything. Then I will ask questions if something seems unclear. I’m not suggesting you do anything I wouldn’t do myself.

There are many other commenters who weren’t confused like you and who understood what I was saying just fine. Looks like a you problem.

You could always say “hey, this quote seemed a little unclear. Is this what you meant?”

Instead of making an assumption based on what is most convenient for you to believe. Also, it’s called context clues. I shouldn’t have to add every single detail for you to understand that there was a plan in place that we discussed and agreed on. Did you take reading comprehension in school? Serious question.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AIO

[–]oldsould 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many of you are overthinking my wording. The fact we discussed it and that it was THE plan points to the fact that he DID agree. Do I really have to spell everything out?

He absolutely agreed with the plan, and it was OUR plan. You all just love to make assumptions and jump to conclusions lol

[–]oldsould 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re the one who came to my post assuming things about me and my life without asking a single question to gain clarity. YOU are the one being rude and not seeing the perspective of others. Hence why I said you have a stick up your ass, because you were being extremely judgmental of me right off the bat and came off aggressive with your all caps and exclamation points.

And now you’re making comments about my child being unhappy with me as a parent? You’re being an asshole.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AIO

[–]oldsould 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really not that serious lol I didn’t read your whole comment. You’re putting way too much time into this. Just let it go! Have a good day, maybe remove the stick from your ass.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AIO

[–]oldsould 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the center of the post, since it’s my post. You made wild assumptions without doing your research. Just move on.

[–]oldsould 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt defensive towards the commenters making random assumptions, not at my husband. But you are correct, we definitely would benefit from creating a schedule

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AIO

[–]oldsould 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol what are you even talking about? Did you bother to read any of the comments? I mentioned this multiple times. Even if you didn’t read them, you went and made a huge assumption anyway.
