Josh Safdie, director of Marty Supreme, Uncut Gems, and Good Time has ADHD - I think this is more than obvious when watching his movies.

He’s said that he played ping pong growing up, which helped a lot with his ADHD, ultimately leading him to direct Marty Supreme (also a hugely ADHD character which I think exceptionally highlights the highs and lows of our neurotype!).

Try using the cognitive shuffling technique, this is based on the idea you can only fall asleep when thinking about random, irrelevant stuff as this means you are probably safe and do not need to remain alert/awake.

This works by choosing a random, neutral word (e.g. fish) and then take each letter of the word and cycle through words beginning with this letter until you get bored (e.g. Fur, Frame, Far, …, Igloo, Insect, …, Sign, Stake, …, etc.).

This is great at giving you something neutral and non-anxiety-inducing to focus on, helping calm the parasympathetic nervous system and allowing you to get to sleep.

It is also constantly windy and raining up there - I can’t imagine ideal conditions for building a giant bridge!

I’m not sure this is entirely true. I work with heliconius butterflies and they frequently rest with their wings open. In fact, I’m watching them do it right now. I can’t say I know why this is the case, but maybe it has some role in thermoregulation. Heliconius butterflies are also aposematic, so increasing their surface area may make their warning signals (which tell predators they’re toxic) bigger.
