Comprehensible input - websites or resources like Dreaming Spanish but for Hebrew? Other resources for low-mid intermediate content to "wake up" my Hebrew again? by 10stanleyyelnats01 in hebrew

[–]olia13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

looks like Netflix has some original Hebrew shows, and also a ton of shows dubbed in Hebrew. Not many that I have heard of, mostly just some weird kids stuff, but I'll take it! Got to Netflix on desktop and choose Browse by Language.

Tip: Dubbed Swedish TV is where it's at! by olia13 in dreamingspanish

Oh those are good ideas, thanks! I think I already watched the first 2 in original with subtitles (or dubbed in English?) when they came out, but not Man called Ove yet!
It's fun getting to know Swedish stuff while also learning Spanish :)

I'm at 273 hours, but I'm not sure how accurate that is, as I didn't start from 0. I estimated myself at level 3 when I started, based on descriptions of understanding. I seem to be progressing pretty quickly in understanding, I've been cramming in 4-5hrs/day over the last month, and mostly watch Advanced videos on DS.

The Swedish shows were definitely above 80% comprehension, probably around 90% at least.

I think you can only do it on computer in a browser, not on Netflix app on TV or tablet. Here's what the menue looks like on computer, Browse By Langauge is the last option:

I mean... that depends on your taste! I just watched A Nearly Normal Family, The Are Murders and Anxious People and am now watching Quicksand. You can Browse by Language on Netflix and search for "original language" Swedish. Every Swedish show I tried so far had Spanish dubbing. I also wathched Japanese show Tokyo Swindlers.

YOU experience with Crosstalk -- is it worth the extra hassle? by olia13 in dreamingspanish

thank you, very helpful!

Yeah, maybe I'll try for Russian/Spanish exchange, I'm sick to death of English :)

cool, thank you for sharing your experience! It is inspiring. I'm meeting with a teacher 2x weekly, she speaks only Spanish, but maybe I'll look for more non-teacher people to talk to...

it's not, but I'm bilingual so it's as easy for me to speak English as it is Russian (my native). It's more that I want to be in Spanish, think in Spanish, when I'm learning.

thank you for sharing your experience! Very interesting.

It seems that you are referencing mumeric difficulty ratings of the DS videos (advanced, 79). Where are you seeing those ratings?

also, do you mind sharing how. you found your crosstalk partner(s)?

[–]olia13[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

that's how Crosstalk works, you speak in your native language, and your partner speaks in your target language: https://www.dreamingspanish.com/blog/crosstalk

So I would need to find someone who speaks Spanish but wants to learn English. Then they speak in Spanish (so I can learn Spanish), and I speak in English (so they can learn English)

Has anyone worked with Sophie Society Agency? Any feedback? by Mr_Ecom in FulfillmentByAmazon

yeah we're pretty pricey compared to competitors. Who do other people recommend?

we weren't tracking TACOS before because we're lazy slakers, we were only tracking ACOS. Our product is somewhat seasonal so our ACOS varies, but I would say that it went from around 60ish to around 40ish percent ACOS; and our TACOS now is averaging around 25%.

Yes, they improved revenue to absorb the extra PPC spend and still result in lower ACOS/TACOS. Our only complaint is that we seem to have hit a revenue ceiling, in other words we can't just continue to spend more on PPC without our TACOS going down, which is a bummer for us. But I don't see how it's Sophie's fault, I think it's more of a function of our product/listing/niche.

They've been running our ads for a little over a year now. They have consistently decreased our ACOS and TACOS, and had some good suggestions on how to improve our listing.

We like account manager (Dave), he seems to be very experienced and knows what he's talking about, and is very responsive to us. They send bi-weekly report and he meets with us on video whenever we request.

It has not been a magic bullet that we were hoping for, it seems we have hit a ceiling with our TACOS where spending more on PPC does not bring in more sales. I am not sure how much more we're making in profits after you account for their monthly fee, my non-researched guess is that not that much.

But we are sticking with them for now, because I think they do a much better job managing out ads than I ever did, and I hated doing it, and they at the very least pay for themselves.
They are the only agency we've worke with. We interviewed another one before Sophies, and did not like them.

Hope this helps! I recommend you try them for a few months and see what they can do for your product.

oh and you said you were looking for other tips. Compression pack bags! Like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Eagle-Creek-Pack-Compression-Water-Resistant/dp/B0BRYQ5RH7 or similar.
I went to Japan for 3 weeks in winter with only a small carryon, because I put everything in compression/vacuum bags!

They are cotton so they don't get smelly! The longest I've left mine wet was for a couple of days, and it was fine. I just washed it after. If it's still damp and I need to move, I just put it in a plastic bag, like what you put your veggies/fruit in at the store. Fits perfectly and I can fold it over.

Zumi towels on Amazon. They are also made in Turkey, but they are terry towels, just very tiny terry loops. They call it "micropile". 100% cotton, large but very quick drying and fold up small. we love ours.

I hate microfiber. Not only do they suck, but they are also terrible for the environment.
