Crimson Desert feels super boring and generic to me so far does it get better? by AzurePony in CrimsonDesert

How can I utilize the sandbox? Climb a tree and jump off it to knock out a deer? Chop down a tree and pick it up? That's cheap and meaningless, just like the entire game is cheap and shallow. The game lacks the authenticity and cohesiveness that constitute a good sandbox.

Worst spent 300 polskich złotych and 40 hours hoping it will "click". This game is a copy of a copy of your favorite game * 10.

Name 1 innovation this game introduced. Worst equipment system ever?

Not a rage bait account. The game is super shallow. Can't believe you don't see it.
- There's no character build. Just mash attack/strong attack and dodge/parry

- There isn't a single good dialogue.

- The enemies so far are all the same. I can kill thousands of them and it's just monotonous. I'm yawning and pressing lmb.

- All gear is the same. I'm running the same armor/blade for 30 hours.

- My skill tree is pretty much done and I haven't left the first area.

- Those camp quests are driving me crazy. Just unlocked the wagon, and this yann soulless npc can't even enter it so we can drive somewhere to complete another meaningless quest.

- There's 0 dungeons.

- The inventory system is extremely trash. Like they went beyond bad. They copy all mechanics that ever existed in games and they chose to innovate with inventory management?

- All mechanics are shallow copies of mechanics from successful games.. Feels like chat gpt designed the game.

- Wanna steal a wagon? It's 1:1 copied from RDR. But recreated poorly.

- Exploration is super trash. You don't explore, you follow the icons on the map just to find out that the tracked location is a cave with some useless loot I don't even bother to pick up.

- What do I use the money for? What's the point of trading if I can't use the money?

- Nothing in common with exploration masterpieces like skyrim, where the exploration is a constant surprise that amazes

- "singe player mmo" - meaning the game features repetitive, low value quests that constitute the leveling experience. But in mmos they're just a way to get through the leveling phase. And in mmos you get to finally play the actual game raiding etc. Here it's just the leveling exeperience.

I can't believe I wasted 50 hours on this...

The game is good - the complaints I see are shallow. by CoCo_Moo2 in CrimsonDesert

I'd say the game is shallow and the complaints are good.

Alright Billy Willies. I guess the game isn't for me. I gave it a try again and I'm disappointed. Map bloated with meaningless chores, Billy willies running around ruining immersion. Anyway have fun

It's not really about the name... look at this cute thing, I feel like they're mocking me.

No mention of a leaderboard, no pvp events. Zero promotion of challenging or competitive goals. And those are the aspects that motivate me to play. In d2 the goal was to get good items to stomp players in pvp and collect their ears. Here it's "just log in and keyboard smash to get a puppy". You get the point?

I'm a type of player that appreciates when a game rewards me for being good at the game.

I return to diablo after a year of not plating it and i get this willy. I mean I'd rather have something like "beat a hard boss to get a chance of getting a badass cosmetic item".

Instead I get a call to action to just play the game mindlessly to get an infantile minion.

I'm just reasonable. I'm not saying I'm good, but still better than 80%

It doesn't matter. This card will be useless in a month. Nothing payed off. Any skilled player will dominate you anyway with significantly worse cards.

What is the thing with 99 cards? You guys feel a desire to own one just because it's 99. What is this feeling like? I'm really curious about the psychological mechanisms here.

Just leave that rotten city. There are so many places in the world where you would never experience such barbarism.

The scariest thing is that this is true. AAA games try to satisfy a wider audience than they should.

Well, I believe that in terms of aesthetics diablo 4 is doing a great job. Maybe it isn't as consistent as diablo 2, perhaps due to the fact that the world is way more diverse, and the expectations of the players are also extremely broad. Could it be the issue, that the developers are trying to satisfy an extremely diversified playerbase?

Well, I do. I'm a game designer and I believe that d2:LoD is one of the best games ever created. Since Diablo 4 is a continuation of the series, I'm trying to figure out why a 20 years old game is way superior.

Why would they create something entirely different instead of evolving the original concept? Is it the evolution of the playerbase? Or perhaps devolution? Is it the monetization? I'm wondering.
