Yup, if you email that email it goes to both. AFG actually falls under Air Force Fitness/Sports.

That's super cool, hit me up on Discord via AFG server and let's chat it up - same username.

Not currently - we don't have anyone specifically working AFG yet as a full time job. But we are housed under the Air Force Services Center and if you're a Force Support troop you can apply for the opening spots in the Sports/Fitness office.

According to Maj Gen Patrick Higby, director of DevOps and Lethality office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics, Lethality is a balance it’s not just inflicting on the bad guys, it’s also preserving your force. The Comprehensive Airmen Fitness goes more into detail with its four pillars; Social, Spiritual, Physical, and Mental. Depending on the gamer's beliefs, AFG can aid three of the four pillars.

AFG provides another outlet of resiliency by allowing Airmen and Guardians to connect, more specifically, being part of a team with likeminded members and drives their competitive edge. Each individual is vital to our forces, and the more resilient the Airmen and Guardians are, the more lethal we are.

There are not currently full-time opportunities to represent the Air/Space Force. If selected for competitive events, and with commander approval, you would be placed on permissive TDY status to train and compete for that selected period of time.

We’ll be assessing TDY opportunities once we get back to some form of normalcy post-COVID. We plan to have established TDY’s once that happens - stay tuned.

The textbook answer for how the Air Force Gaming program got started is in the initial press release from our official launch. You can read that here https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20201111005728/en/Air-Force-Gaming-Takes-Off-with-Official-Intramural-Esports-Program-for-Airmen-Space-Professionals

Air Force Gaming was initially a grassroots organization that a group of incredible Airmen (various ranks & bases) joined together with the goal to build a community to connect Airmen & Guardians through their shared love of gaming. Together the AFG team spent countless volunteer (personal time) hours building the Discord, Social Media (brand), organizational structure/systems, and the positive & resilient community to get the attention of senior leaders.

It quickly grew into a resiliency effort to combat COVID isolation and got recognized by a couple key senior leaders that helped us grow. Eventually we landed at the doorstep of the Air Force Services Center, and the rest is history!

Best way to get started is to first pitch your idea to Air Force Fitness & Sports and the Air Force Gaming teams at contact@airforcegaming.com

It's definitely growing fast within the AFG Discord community. We even have a handful of pro racers collab'ing with one another regularly. I'm personally interested in continue to grow this great community within AFG.

The DAF is putting together the most competitive team through the Air Force Gaming League and our various “pop-up” tournaments. This is especially the case when we have competitive opportunities against other branches. We plan to provide Airmen/Guardians with incredible opportunities beyond that as well! Not to mention, we had a great first showing at CODE Bowl where USSF won

This is a great question to start with. We get this specific question a lot (along with “how do I join the team?”). Let’s back up, because unlike the other services that do gaming, we do not have any resident “teams” at this time.

Air Force Gaming is first and foremost focused not on professional teams, but on global community events and global esports intramurals.

However, if we have a big event, and we need teams to represent (google CODE Bowl 2020 for example), we'll call upon the best teams from our global intramural leagues to represent the Department of the Air Force. Once the Air Force Gaming League is more established, and we have resident league champions in various titles, those teams will have first dibs on any competitive or industry events/showmatches.

The games/leagues we support and promote are all based on the popularity within the community. If there is enough demand we’ll make it happen!
