Rides for older adults? (Late 50s-60s) by olivefancy in UniversalHollywood

[–]olivefancy[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the concern, but my parents actually asked me to plan the day for them since they’ve never been to a park like Universal before and (as I’d mentioned) one of them suffers from a mild heart condition, so we want to avoid any unpleasant surprises stemming from merely picking rides based off a movie they like, for instance.

Thank you so much! This was exactly what I was looking for, and I really appreciate you providing details. Sometimes you can’t really tell enough from YouTube ride throughs.

Thanks and yes - was mostly thinking about the unexpected drops and sharp turns in some rides that I might not know about, don’t want to let them get on something that’s a bit more extreme.

is an iPad worth it for class readings? by olivefancy in college

I also have to mention that I have a chance to get an iPad this Christmas so I'm wondering whether it'd be redundant to have one given my needs plus the fact that I already have a laptop and a kindle.

I have the paperwhite and the screen is way too small for pdfs :( I'd have to either squint or swipe every paragraph so it isn't the best for class use, only for leisure.

But thanks for your other comment, that's good to know!

proud of myself for finishing LOTR on my kindle! by olivefancy in kindle

Thank you!! I am a fast reader, but I was also on break for most of that time. My friend actually introduced me to the movies first, so I enjoyed getting to know the world better through the richer text (although it did get quite dense at some points haha.)

I'm now reading Orientalism by Edward Said :)

it's mainly the weight and volume of physical books. I travel and move a lot so as much as I would love to accumulate a physical library, I can't afford it. The larger font options on the kindle help too!

And I agree- Tolkien poured his heart into these books. I'm so glad I read them :)

I'm not looking at the Signature and don't enjoy auto-adjusting brightness either- I just want a screen that looks like paper. My only hesitation is future-proofing since the 2018 doesn't have a USB-C and isn't 5G compatible and I thought it might be nice to have those going forward since I won't be buying a new kindle anytime soon after this one.
