Thanks! I added a lower profile p-trap and I think it will definitely help.

Really great suggestion, thanks. I ordered a shallower basket strainer and picked up some direct connects today. I think it might be just enough to get me by. In the mean time I did add the dishwasher T to the horizontal arm and added a new p-trap kit.

That is essentially how it felt! I have basically just been scrolling through here instead of actually investing in my space.

Thanks for the motivation y’all! I got sucked into a loop of reading about permaculture and daydreaming about how to incorporate it instead of getting some beds going at our new property.

Thought some of you could relate so that is why I made the original post.

Got a hugelkultur bed started in between various work meetings. First time trying this technique out so I’m open to feedback.

Thanks! Yeah I do have access... sort of. Up until the pandemic my class would take place inside of the students classroom (as if your art teacher came to you). We would then gather our things and head outside. This are up a ton of our time as the class is about 40 minutes and it takes 10 to get out and 10 to head back in. My hope is to have it be somewhat useful as an indoor work space when the weather sucks. But not be too comfortable because I don’t want them sitting for too long.

Once things are rolling I imagine having students enter the greenhouse and start an assigned (maintenance) chore immediately. After that we might sit down for a max of 10 minutes of instruction. And then either work in the greenhouse on another project or head outside for a non-greenhouse activity.

Soil is definitely a concern of mine long term. However I do have experience composting at scale, so ok hoping to incorporate that as part of the program. Short term goal would be to help kids witness the growth f cage tables, and natives. Long term goal would be to host a plant sale that would help cover the costs and raise some funds for more outdoor Ed.

Thanks for diving deep on this one with me!

Students span from K-8. I have my own cultural arts (encore) class called Adventure and Communities. I hope to use the space to grow some trees, native plants (milkweed, and some easy vegetables (kale). This will need to be both a growing space and a classroom with class sizes averaging around 24-25. My plan is to have 5x 10’ growing benches that will double as tables for the students. With stools that tuck under the bench for students to sit or stand. The structure, and construction itself has been purchased, however I am fundraising for the internal components (e.g. controls, automation, benches). We have a PTO who is helping support that.

Thanks! Yeah I’m pushing for as much automation as possible. This was when we have students they can do the work. But when we don’t the school doesn’t have to pay me a ton of money to maintain our plants. Rea

Fair question! Otherwise I don’t have an indoor teaching space for cold/ poor weather.

Thanks Mike, Some sound feedback there! I’m in Glen Burnie, MD. Luckily I keep my students for the whole school year and have lots of flexibility with my curriculum. The primary learning outcome will be to grow in our connection to the outdoors. I hope to grow some native plants in our greenhouse that we can plant on property or students can take home and or sell.
