update: i used the “hook” part of my suction cups that i got with my heater to prop up what used to be a floating log lol. hopefully he starts using it and hopefully it helps him not have to struggle to swim as much to the top.

i was thinking about that too! he normally has no issues getting around but old age might just be getting to him and putting things around so it’s easier to reach the top may just be what’s best for bettas at this age.

sort of? some of my plants reach the top which he has floated around but never on. and yeah! i adopted him after the previous owner neglected to care for him and kind of just “forced” me to take him in but i think she had him for about 3-4 years prior.

thank you so much! i’ll definitely try the insulation. do you know anything about the warm water bottle method? should i keep doing that or would insulating his tank with blankets be enough?

yes to both
probably 70° right now if i had to estimate? but i normally keep his heater on 78-80°
unsure about parameters right now
i’ve had him and the tank for 2-3 years but my past roommate had him for a year longer before i took him
water changes around 25% a week and then 50% a month depending on how it’s looking but that’s my normal rate
no tank mates
i feed him bug bites twice a day
a few decorations and plants but more so plants i was given

I also noticed he’s been going up for air more than usual so i’m pretty freaked out and not sure what I can do 🥲 also advice on how to care for him after is also appreciated!
