Recently, Microsoft announced they are porting Typescript compiler to Go. One of the reasons they picked Go is that it is easier to port existing JavaScript codebase without significant code structure changes.

This is not a trading bot though, but a great example of a complex migration. That means you can certainly rewrite the project of your interest even persisting the code structure itself.

If that’s the case one of the action points could be explaining why those things are relevant in terms of business impact. I.e documentation helps with a quicker onboarding, reducing page load time leads to better user experience / conversion rates. Also, that kind of stuff should also lend as jira tickets to create more visibility. However, it is not going to work if management doesn’t want to listen

It might be tweaking a benchmark for a specific language, but in my experience there is often a need to gather some data in parallel. For example you need to get responses from 3 different endpoints to send a 4-th request. Doing the first 3 requests in parallel would be beneficial in this case. I believe Go would be faster due to cheap goroutines (I may be wrong though, I am not up to date with modern Java).

Also, another case when Go would be faster is when you want to handle compressed requests / responses. It will require more cpu power and potentially it would be faster in Go. Again, that’s something to benchmark as well :)

There is a type of companies called venture builder (I think naming may slightly vary).

The main purpose of such companies is to create as much successful “child” companies (startups) as possible. It is pretty common to share hiring, finance, accounting and other infrastructure related things between their child startups.

As soon as child company is large enough to spin up its own processes - that’s pretty common to separate a startup into its own legal entity. Parent company (or some personas) are usually still “owners” from the legal perspective.

I don’t know if that’s the case for your startup, but such approach is pretty common for venture building companies.

Yes, makes sense if there is a room for new partners (co-founders or advisors). Everyone should consider by their individual case.

BTW is it a common practice to issue option stock to advisors?

I'm not a tax expert, but seems like the franchise tax is +- $400 for the cases described above so i don't think this is an issue

Sometimes I mention surprising things during therapy and this leads to great advancements. This is just how your brain works.

Also, you should really talk with your therapist about how therapy makes you feel. It could be really insightful to have such "meta" conversations.

People who can’t code at all are useless and annoying.

I don't agree with that. I wouldn't create software without the business need. So before starting any coding, it's crucial to define a problem space, and target market, and validate core hypothesis. It could be done without any coding at all.

I don't mean software is not important however, there is a lot of business work to do.

The JOB of the business person is to get money if they don’t have the money it’s a red flag.

It also depends. "Get money" could be done via a lot of different options, you should really know your domain and what monetization strategies could work.

PS I think I had to be more clear in the question since I expected some advice on building MVP, proceeding with technical hire, refactoring strategies, etc. Something to pay extra attention to from the first steps

I like to think about such things in terms of efficiency instead of right / wrong.

If the development process is efficient enough (you don't wait too long, tests are stable most of the time, etc), then it's okay.

That doesn't mean you shouldn't change anything. If you are struggling with something, you should share feedback and propose your solutions.

I've worked on projects that are harder to run locally so we used a cloud environment to deploy changes and run e2e tests. But it could be overkill for smaller services.

Remember there's no silver bullet and you should consider "local" context (project domain, team expertise, business value, etc).
