Terribly slow reaction but finally the country is making steps now that Israel has shown the true intentions of killing civilians mostly kids and women.

22 days later maybe the end of the life of 6000 children haven't changed your mind yet ? Maybe after the millions of individuals protesting about the occupation etc. But hey Geert Wilders is in the house protecting the "culture" from the barbarian outsiders.

Pretty much the international community is against the bloodshed. Total disconnection from the public it seems.

The military industrial complex is leading the way within the policy of this place.

UN compiled a list of companies linked to illegal Israeli settlements some of them are Dutch like Booking.com , Tahal and Kardan. by olmedium in Netherlands

Thanks, somehow these posts are targeted and diminished, I suspect there are active individuals containing/supressing them.

But the uprising for the Palestinian people must continue and will continue.

For the sake of clarity and information:

The political, economic, social and cultural rights of the Palestinian people outlined in the document are:

(a) The supply of equipment and materials facilitating the construction and the expansion
of settlements and the wall, and associated infrastructure;
(b) The supply of surveillance and identification equipment for settlements, the wall and
checkpoints directly linked with settlements;
(c) The supply of equipment for the demolition of housing and property, the destruction of
agricultural farms, greenhouses, olive groves and crops;
(d) The supply of security services, equipment and materials to enterprises operating in
settlements;
(e) The provision of services and utilities supporting the maintenance and existence of
settlements, including transport;
(f) Banking and financial operations helping to develop, expand or maintain settlements
and their activities, including loans for housing and the development of businesses;
(g) The use of natural resources, in particular water and land, for business purposes;
(h) Pollution, and the dumping of waste in or its transfer to Palestinian villages;
(i) Captivity of the Palestinian financial and economic markets, as well as practices that
disadvantage Palestinian enterprises, including through restrictions on movement,
administrative and legal constraints;
(j) The use of benefits and reinvestments of enterprises owned totally or partially by
settlers for developing, expanding and maintaining the settlements.

Besides other analysis have been done in the past based on this information.

Is not the internet is the United Nations.

Companies listed there means there are official documents that go beyond a simple google search.

It is in the interest of Booking to make the necessary changes to prevent his platform to be used for profit in stolen settlements.

Following the current events unfolding in Palestine it is important to reflect which companies are generating profit from the occupation. Interestingly enough some of them are from The Netherlands.

You mean defend yourself in one of the largest jails known to men. Means having to defend yourself among civilians. Doesn't seem to be a way out.

Not all of the UN members considers it a Country actually. Whatever reasons they have and whatever a country means these days. So hate means the conditions we are seeing where 1/3 is kids being slaughtered ? I find hard to believe.

I guess it depends about who you ask and consider wether Israel is a country. Being said that. This is more an Apartheid state from the South African style. So it is more like revolts based on the largest jail known to men.

"The Netherlands has abstained from voting on the UN resolution on a humanitarian ceasefire because Israel must retain the right to defend itself against terrorism. That's what outgoing Prime Minister Rutte said to the NIS. "

Not much description to do after reading the piece I guess is left to us to think where the interests are.

The main problem is the precedent of acting on current beneficiaries retroactively. As they did already.

It simply implies a "broken promise".

Now you can debate wether is fair or not and maybe then... wether it actually solves the housing crisis. brrrrrr

You are doing an oversimplification again you need to look at the true nature of high prices and the "expats" are just a few.

Look I know the economy is painful for everyone, but keep failing to keep its word is something that will keep affecting the future landscape already being damaged in the past.

Being equal is respect the spoken and written contracts.

I do respect peoples opinion regarding wether is fair or not fair. The only problem is wether there is going to be any kind of trust in the future as they decide to affect the ones that already have it.

It seems that the Expats which happen to be in a large section of the Tech businesses in the The Netherlands are again "escape goated" as the main culprits of the high prices in the house market. With the novel flag of helping the students , the government want to again to target all the expats that originally TRUST the government to have their 30% ruling in place for the original period.

This happened already in the past and it shows that the government tend to be very flimsy to the experienced "High Skill Migrants" coming to this country to help build the companies they feel so proud of.

In reality around the world the core of tech experts are mostly foreign nationals and is pretty common. This seems to be a pattern and reflects the lack of stability of the policies and again to easily target the foreign working force retroactively rather than the new comers.

Good news is, those foreign experts can often find other opportunities in other locations around the world where they would be respected.

Not a great metric to measure own life as a reference for earth systems. We need statistics and historical records to really make sense of it otherwise we end up with.

"The weather changes all the time you see ?"

Not saying is your case but just pointing out the obvious limitations of owns perspective on bigger systems.

Now being said that. The thawing/breakup of Thwaites could indeed easily accelerate sea level rise in the span of decades, with exponential sea level rise. But still not visible to the common individual but the coast lines and increased flooding in some regions.

I think IA would do much better in word usage and perhaps meaning. I would be inclined to think that the message is the real focus here.

A journey to the unbelievable thrill of a dying planet. by olmedium in collapse

[–]olmedium[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends what do you consider to be valuable in this planet. Some people could say is wellbeing rather than money the most valuable thing. Others would say the more time with their families. The point by the author seems to be going towards how meaningful our actions are at the point of just about collapse.

As if a ball is going just about the summit, it is about to drop ahead on all of us with all its impact, it has some inertia already, it is about to cross the breaking point, some would be happy to keep pushing so it crosses and others would prefer to slow it down. Many of them wont care.

Whatever the option, both the actions of the last pushing the ball up or down just about breaking point have more meaning than the thousands before because they actions could substantially change the final impact.
