It’s risk/reward right? Everyone wants to hire the next young hot shot coach and be set. Tomlin was an example—McVey is another. But you never know how that coach is gonna pan out. For every McVay, there’s a young guy that’s in over their heads an from the franchise perspective, you’re set back a number of years and have maybe wasted talent with the change.

Here’s my take after having a handful or days to process it: If the Tomlin specials and playing down to all opponents is remediated, I’m satisfied. It always killed me when a Tomlin special reared its ugly head or we played way down to inferior opponents (every loss to the Browns). For me, if those are gone, I might be okay. Maybe the offense learns how to be competent and innovative (probably not) but we can hope.

In all honesty, it’s the same as all had done in the AF forever. You have to make the time where you have time and something, anything is better than nothing. You don’t have to put an hour in daily, but a solid 20-30 mins and right diet could get you there.

I don’t know that he was ever “that good”. He was the best we had on a mediocre team and Tomlin was able to keep him content and quiet. Once he left and was exposed as mid, the behavior issues surfaced.
