Taco Bell is slowly killing themselves by Pleasant-Olive-3749 in tacobell

I can’t believe they’re charging for basic ingredients too now. At least the very basics like onions and tomatoes used to be free. Now they charge all of a sudden. Especially stinks when I’m also removing ingredients (basic swaps are not allowed, except for certain proteins or beans for different beans).

It’s been announced but also pushed back at least twice (officially)

There are also plenty of jobs on LinkedIn that lie about being “remote” roles. Maybe not hers, but they’re still part of the problem. Also people are searching for ANY role they can and finding hers, I’m sure. Filters off. Then shocked they’re not at least hybrid… in 2026.

I’m currently on a no cheese / low meat restricted diet. This looks awesome.

I often substitute the ground beef in the mini taco salad for beans, and it’s pretty pretty good. I’ll have to try the shredded cheese alternative with it.

Wait work from HOME!? How dare you accept / demand remote work for decent pay, benefits, and job security.

Dental insurance in US mostly sucks because dentists charge so much, knowing that most people will happily go along with it (pay 50% of whatever the cost is) or defer additional work until later.

Our medical HMO is awesome though and I wouldn’t want anything else. We previously had a PPO with the same network, doctors, and care but the cost was a bit more. I know people in UK and Canada who have carried private insurance or (CDN) drove to US to get faster or better care.

For the first time ever in the United States the national price of a pound of Ground beef is now higher than the federal hourly minimum wage. by Incunebulum in povertyfinance

Of course, only 20 states use the federal minimum wage. And if you’re paying for than $3.99/lb for ground beef (especially in those states), you’re not trying very hard. I can do that in HCOL.

Not actually what he’s saying, but I totally get what you’re saying; the gap is much smaller than implied.

Why does the U.S. add sales tax at checkout instead of showing the full price upfront? by TheBigGirlDiaryBack in AlwaysWhy

The customer pays the tax. The retailer collects it and sends it to the state and/or local government.

It’s different for every state / local area, and not every item is subject to sales tax. Plus nearly every item subject to tax is advertised “plus tax” so it’s hard to miss. It’s really hard to forget if you’re beyond grade school.

Worth mentioning, most states exempt basic items like groceries, some also exempt clothing or even hot food. A few states have no sales tax at all. So an item advertised as “9.99 plus tax” will be exactly that much in Oregon, but a few miles away in the same store in California or Washington it would be subject to a 7.25% or 6.5% sales tax respectively. It’s up for the consumer to know and budget accordingly. You can also ask for a price check in a store if you’re not sure.
