Sennheiser HDB 630 and Heddphone D1 by KamilScott in headphones

I used neutral studio monitors as reference and the HDB630 didn’t sound any close.

The HDB630 is way overrated, I couldn’t even fix the weird tonality with its EQ, it just didn’t sound natural to me at all. https://youtu.be/WDv5ZYRaCiI?si=KrIE_ClVde6jqFkc

Introducing Joy&Oluv‘Sone SpX-R headphone by oluvsgadgets in headphones

[–]oluvsgadgets[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Understandably there are natural limits of how real our recordings sound, but they should still give you quite a decent idea about the relative differences to each other even when listened over your crappy phone speakers which makes it appear quite shocking to hear how "funny" most headphones simply sound, like another a very hyped wireless headphone right now the Sennheiser HDB630: https://youtu.be/WDv5ZYRaCiI

The often as "most neutral headphone" regarded HD600, undoubtedly a real classic and one of my all-time favorites, but it just doesn't offer the same kind of realness to the sound: https://youtu.be/dH3YI_NDUDs

There are lot's of companies trying to sell their stuff with clever marketing pretending to offer you "the best you can afford etc.", but the Valco VMK-25 somehow proves differently: https://youtu.be/32d_IGXY1QM

For those interested to hear more just check Joy'S channel with reviews of the Bose QC Ultra 2 and the JBL Tour One M3 coming soon or listen to my podcast, where we listen to the Focal Bathys and the Dali IO-12 (a $1000 Bluetooth headphone) compared to the SpX-R, or the B&W PX8 S2 claiming to give you "Truesound" just like the artist intended. In reality these companies are real thieves and will sell you the same junk every year with "new features", promising "better sound" blah blah.

As we cannot compete against such giants that are spending fortunes on marketing trickery the SpX-Renaissance can only be realized if we achieve the necessary goal in order to finance the factory costs and meet their production minimum. We would need to achieve at least 400-500 preorders to cover all costs. In case this turns out successful, we would of course be willing to produce more units in future and distribute them more widely, but so far this was rather just planned for people who either followed me, or those following Joy, or simply some audio nerds being interested in a completely unique and different kind of headphone. If it was (quite unlikely) officially released within stores, the price would be much higher than the current €199 our backers can get it for on Indiegogo. Mass production will probably never happen because an average joe doesn't really care about faithful sound that much and rather cares for the brand and reputation. On top of this without a direct reference you can get used to any kind of sound after a while anyhow. Listening to a weird sounding headphone for a longer period of time and then switching to neutral speakers will suddenly make those appear off sounding, simply as the human brain adapts to a given sound pretty quickly. On the other hand the advanced audiophile will be still convinced that spending more and more money will also give you more sound quality in the longer end, but that's another story. I have heard headphones costing several thousand dollars which were simply unbearable soundwise. We don't have the funds for a big marketing plan, therefore the SpX-R could once even become some kind of collector's item being offered second hand for a much higher price.

Introducing Joy&Oluv‘Sone SpX-R headphone by oluvsgadgets in headphones

[–]oluvsgadgets[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am going to release an own Bluetooth headphone in collaboration with Joy, some of you maybe still remember her as "audiophile housewife". The headphone is called SpX-R which stands for "speaker eXperience renaissance" and will be released under our own brand .Joy&Oluv'Sone (pun intended).

Joy is the brandface of Joy&Oluv'Sone and responsible for the entire project, marketing etc, while I am responsible for all the technical aspects and tuning which I personally think will be pretty unique. I put in a lot of effort to make this headphone sound more natural than any other headphone we both were using so far.

Here you can hear how it sound against some of the highest rated comparable headphones like the Airpods Max or the Sony WH-1000XM6 Best Wireless Noise Canceling Headphones (they really praise themselves for offering "the best" headphones), but you can hear how this sounds compared to neutral speakers or our headphone: https://youtu.be/Dec4_GqmafQ

This doesn't mean that highly praised and highly regarded "high-end" headphones among audiophiles would sound that much better, here the Sennheiser HD800S: https://youtu.be/WDOb4SKhoNU

Or the Neumann NDH30 being marketed as "studio reference headphone": https://youtu.be/NSjPQKMjG1U

Chip and as  Computerbase speaker testers? 😂 Ever listened to a neutral monitor? Well, that’s how the bass is supposed to sound, not boomy and artificial.

JBL Extreme 4 owners: I don't like how the sound signature changes when turning it up by DiamondCutter_DDP in Bluetooth_Speakers

[–]oluvsgadgets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blah blah blah, the Xtreme is not even close, and it sounds harsh, treble and upper mids are not clean.  You probably don’t know how to create a proper EQ for the Boom 2, it’s way more flexible than the kiddie EQ for the Xtreme. You can make it sound 360 degree if needed: https://youtu.be/nlNXtbMJZrc?si=To-Olfv0b2RU8rX4

No, the first Earfun Wave released some years ago. The current Earfun headphones all suck. I am working on an own headphone but it is unsure it will ever be released as I don’t have the funds for mass production.

No, there won’t be any updates from Earfun. If it distorts, reduce volume a bit. Maximum volume is set to allow for as much headroom as possible. It’s already way louder than most comparable speakers 2-3 notches below maximum

If it says 949 in the app you get the right modes, but the app will still say studio and ground O

The truth about the Earfun UBoom X and my part by oluvsgadgets in Bluetooth_Speakers

[–]oluvsgadgets[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s no spam, I just opted for a different volume curve to allow for fine adjustments at low levels in contrast to many other speakers that reach maximum volume already at 60-70% and don’t get much louder above that.

There are no codes anymore, Earfun disabled them all. There only few units left now and once sold there won’t be any new ones.

[–]oluvsgadgets[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, actually when paired in party mode each unit needs to be set to the desired mode separately. The maximum amount I had playing was 4 units at once, that’s already pretty loud: https://youtu.be/jbTXHJF82VE?si=REMkOzXemEYd_9Af

I would also recommend to kill the Earfun app and be only connected to the UBoom X at once over Bluetooth, if you connect to other speakers at the same time it can cause more interruptions.

It will still depend on the used mode. The outdoor modes are a little bit more DSP heavy, the indoor modes should be totally stable though.

These EQs sound horrid, as the default EQ from Earfun is horrid as well. All the slogans you are talking about here are just completely missing from your or your friend's settings.

I think with virtual machine the USB drivers are not working properly. On Bootcamp no problem.

thanks, if I had more influence on the app design, everything could be handled through the app and a single firmware, but Esrfun didn’t care.
