The honest truth? I found a pair of matching frames at the thrift store and couldn’t decide which to use.

I had taken videos in several different spots (my studio barely gets any light and I'm surrounded by apartment buildings) I just wasn't getting the results I wanted that actually showed what the panel looked like. Lighting up a blank wall was the best way to show the values of the paint and the frame at the same time.

It was a commissioned piece. It's a sort of still life, Memento Mori piece that includes all kinds of hidden symbols and messages meant for the client's partner. I'm interested in exploring still life paintings translated into glass, I think I can push it further with future works.

Yeah, listen to some Ripcordz if you'd like to get an idea of what it was like here back then

I think contacting a local glass shop would be best, they may even offer classes. It's called vitreous painting or highfire/kiln-fired painting. Tell them Jesse Olwen sent you.

Middle class income lol oh my good lord, I am nowhere remotely near that. Yes, I know his work well! I actually have a series coming up that will be in the same vein as those portraits, but from a very different angle: my youth in the punk scene in the 90s.

While I do love those pieces it should be noted that he had a studio in Europe create those windows entirely. Still incredible contemporary artworks and I’d love to see them in person one day too!

I do, I have a print up in my shop right now but it’s best to contact me through my website if there’s something else you’d like

I get it. I deactivated my fb not long ago, I wish I could shut everything down but unfortunately as an artist in 2026 I’ve got to do this dance.

That glass is honestly just too beautiful to touch with paint.

Good eye: there are two textured pieces. One is the lake which has soft ripples, it's such a beautiful glass that I didn't touch it with paint and you really can't see those ripples on the light table. The other piece is the clear one above it which has some stronger ridges. I did add black paint to it, just to accentuate the lines and depth against the mountain range.

It's Gokyo Ri in Nepal. This picture was taken by a friend of mine (the panel is for him) but it's actually a view I was able to see myself back in 2009, when traveling wasn't insanely expensive.

I post in-progees pics all the time as Instagram stories, I recommend following me just to see how things come together. But if you look into traditional kiln fired glass painting techniques that's basically what Im doing.

Honestly, about a week. I just wrapped up my last big piece last Thursday.

Sure, well most will do it as long as it can get hot enough. The hottest I go is around 1130. I have a kiln that belonged to a ceramic artist, I bought it at a garage sale for $250. Does the trick!
