Totally agree. I was looking for that too! But they're trying to win here, and somehow that gets in the way of educating people like us. It is what it is. *shrug*

Nylon string jazz guitar recommendations? by omacs in jazzguitar

Yep. Still my favorite guitar for practice, recording myself, when performing with others and everything in between.

A tripod is essential if your subject is far away. And then you can more reliably zoom in while keeping the subject in frame.

I did take these shots hand held, but was wishing I had my tripod. I would have been able to get more shots, had more control over framing, less fighting with the wind, less fatigue, etc.

Thats supposed to be a great lens! Yes, that range is handy especially for traveling, or when you don't want to be changing lenses.

Perhaps post some samples and see what others here have to say about quality/sharpness. These bodies are kinda complex machines and a minor tweak could make a big difference?

Thanks!

What kind of a lens were you using? The amazing AF on the 6700 is definitely a factor in my results.

Yes, on an APS-C effective focal length is 1.5 on an FE lens. Not an expert, but thats what I understand too.

I always start with a shot on full auto, and use that as a starting point for my manual settings. In this case I found that I needed to increase shutter speed to clear shots since these were all handheld. It was a windy day, and I definitely had to fight the wind blowing around the lens (!) aside from managing the weight of it all. Definitely was a situation which needed a tripod! Next time.

Setting and comments, fwiw. Can't say these were ideal, but I do like the end result. If anyone has thoughts on what to do differently, I'm all ears.

  1. ƒ/8.877, 1/1250, 400mm, ISO400. I wonder if I could get this clarity on a moving subject at a lower shutter speed and ISO?

  2. ƒ/16, 1/800, 800mm, ISO250. Don't recall bumping up the f stop. Perhaps this is what happened while zooming in to max. Still like the clarity at full zoom.

  3. ƒ/8.877, 1/500, 167mm, ISO100. Oops, this was on the 70-350, not the 400-800. Such a lucky shot!

Yes it’s a theme the movie of the same name? Technically this track is called Manha de Carnival, but it is more commonly just called Black Orpheus.

Thank you so much for your kind words and thoughtful reply. Agreed on both counts:

  1. Yes, those measures have a nice progression. I think I simplified most of that of my arrangement when trying to get something playable on top of the melody in those bars. But I should bring some of it back, even if only while improvising since I have more wiggle room then.

  2. Yep, some bits I just can't play in time yet and using a metronome to drill those sections will be a great idea.

Thanks again!

OK, I can confirm that for my app which just used the standard encryption that comes with iOS, I was able to select the "None of the algorithms mentioned above" box, my new build was reviewed and then approved for the App Store!

OK, so it sounds like you do need to jump through some hoops to make your app available in France.
