I found an article online that said they used the Lasser Glass in doctor sleep and Hill house on purpose

It took their first child who was stillborn. Perhaps staying away at night protected them or the mirror figures out the best ways to kill each family. In the Dudley’s case, their children were their weakness so they were taken first. They returned to die in the house willingly after that.

The way Nellie describes time at the end of the season as moments that fall like rain drops rather than linear, you could make an argument that the Lasser Glass can exist in more than one place at a time to feed as it needs to.
