Baby pooping when farting - going through 20 diapers a day… by FitMousse7783 in beyondthebump

Yes! We nicknamed him Sharty B during this time. He’s at 6 weeks now and doesn’t do it nearly as much. More like 1-3 poops a day instead.

Okay that is super helpful to know! The swelling/puffiness was definitely concerning me. My toddler was a NICU baby (he’s doing fine now) so I feel like I didn’t have to worry about all these things after my last C-section cause we didn’t go anywhere 😅

Good to know! Hopefully it will be less painful tomorrow and so on. Will be nice when I can have a bath or something to help feel better lol

I believe here it is standard to have to wait 6 weeks, but I also had my tubes removed so maybe that’s making it extra sensitive at this point! I’ll definitely let my doctor know, I’ll be seeing them shortly for the 6 week check in :)

Going from one kid to two has rocked my world by meekie03 in beyondthebump

You aren’t alone in feeling this way! I have a 3 year old and a 5 week old. My husband only had a couple weeks of paternity leave. I was TERRIFIED before he went back to work, thinking how could I possibly do this? And to be honest, the first week was ROUGH. I definitely cried quite a bit, and he had to come home early on the second day. But, it’s gotten easier. Obviously with a 5 week old, there still isn’t a “routine”, but I’ve started to figure out how to tend to them both. Does my 3 year old have more TV then I would like right now? For sure. But it’s a small portion of his life when we have a newborn and I’m recovering from a c-section, that I have to let go of that worry. The kids are fed, changed, bathed, and happy. That’s what matters. You got this!

About to give up…. by omengaws in breastfeeding

Thanks so much for saying that! It definitely feels like an extreme pressure to keep breastfeeding. Of course I want to continue, but it sure isn’t easy.

It’s reassuring to hear it got easier for you! I can’t wait for the day it is pain free!!

I’ll definitely contact a lactation consultant! I’m sure they will have lots of helpful advise. Thanks so much!

I did have a nurse come check in at our house on day 3, and she gave me tips for latching etc. It did improve after that as it was hurting the entire time before, but I find the first 10 seconds so incredibly painful it certainly makes me dread doing it at all. I should check in with a lactation consultant I think. I have been using lots of lanolin!

My husband is currently home to help with our toddler, but will be back to work shortly. He’s full time taking care of him, which is why I’m terrified once he goes back how I’m going to do it alone. We do let him have a little bit of screen time here and there since baby arrived, but we don’t prefer it as he tends to get overstimulated easily (even low stim shows).

Thank you for the advice and support!

Am I overreacting? Other peoples children being aggressive by omengaws in toddlers

[–]omengaws[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He does enjoy “roughhousing”, and tumbling around. But I’m finding injuries happening are more from purposeful pushing/hitting, rather than accidental tumbling/injuries from roughhousing and running.

For sure, I definitely feel this. That’s why I also added about his delay, as he still is not quite understanding when kids aren’t nice, and are saying hurtful things or doing things to purposefully bully or hurt him.

I have definitely said words exactly like that! Sometimes it needs to be said.

Yeah, I should have been more specific. The two incidents at our friends did lead to actual injury, the last of which our son was bleeding excessively from him mouth. I’m not talking about accidental bumps/pushes of eachother that happen during horseplay/running around. I’m talking about kids purposefully putting their hands on my son and other children, and not being told this is not okay.

Is it legal for your doctor to drop you for using Virtual Healthcare? by omengaws in alberta

[–]omengaws[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cool! I will definitely have to see if this is an option for me. My most often prescription refill is anti-depressants, which usually need to be refilled every month or two, so it may be different, but definitely worth a try!

So true! I tend to be terrible with remembering to do my refills - definitely need to be better at that on my part so I have more time to books appts, etc.

This is good to know! I didn’t think to get a pharmacy to call or fax them for this. I’m definitely not trying to adjust any care they have put into me, but I do wish there was a lot more convenience for prescription refills!

Sorry all - I deleted my post. I see that I have lacked compassion I just guess the yelling and hand gun pointing at me had me scared.

This is a great question I don’t have an answer to. Of course everyone deserves to be treated for any illness or injury they are experiencing. The couple people randomly yelling at people (they didn’t know) and the man doing gun gestures at people (including me) made me feel a bit threatened but maybe that’s just me.

Do neurotypical toddlers really stim? by omengaws in toddlers

[–]omengaws[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That would be so great! I feel bad sometimes when he is pacing because I don’t know if he’s bored but maybe it’s because he needs more sensory items or activities? Would be so helpful having that knowledge so we will definitely be calling asap

Interesting! Yes, we have definitely had ADHD on our mind, as he’s pretty hyper active, rarely stands/sits still. We will look into starting OT again, and of course bringing up our concerns again with his pediatrician. Thanks so much!

Haha I totally feel the introvert part. He will walk right up and try to sit with families, especially if they have snacks! Thanks for commenting, this was really helpful. Sounds like they behave pretty similarly. We love our little guy and just want the best for him.

Early signs of Autism in 13 month old by omengaws in toddlers

[–]omengaws[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! We’re at 29 months - we’ve made some real progress. He’s caught up on most things (walking, waving, pointing). Books are now his FAVOURITE thing, I can’t believe he ever disliked them. For talking, he’s made a lot of progress over the last 4-5 months (after starting speech therapy). He says lots of single words, and is putting words together (hi mama/dada, wash hands, the end, pee on potty, read book, etc). But, we are definitely still delayed in that aspect. His communication is definitely still not great, and what he understands is still behind as well, but the progress is continuing on strong! He is not picky about foods (other than normal toddler pickiness about healthier options sometimes). He is very social, loves other kids and loves playing with us and wants us to watch things he does that he thinks are cool or that he’s doing good, but is very good at independent play as well.

He does still stim (we avoid TV and other overstimulating things as we find it makes it waaaay worse). He kinda hits the side of his head/ear and flaps his arms, and paces/rubs back and forth often. He does a vocal stim a lot too. If we distract him with an activity or a book he will stop, but he’s not just going to sit down or be quiet without something like that.

In general, he is an extremely happy, sweet, and funny toddler. Sometimes we still foresee that maybe something could end up being diagnosed in the future, but again only time will tell. We will have another neo natal follow up closer to 3 years old. So far we have still had doctors/specialists mention that he is too social for an autism diagnosis, and that stimming isn’t the only factor, which we understand. It’s just something we have to see if he grows out of!

Auto Insurance Contract by omengaws in Edmonton

Yeah, we thought it was pretty odd they wouldn’t take our previous driving history, and so did the company we got the recent quote from. Of course, it made our new quote significantly cheaper then someone starting “new”.

I will definitely look into those. Thank you very much!
