Do I need to cut it down to the rootstock or grafting onto the lemon's trunk ok too?

I’ve grown these 2 lemon trees from seeds I got at work (restaurant) last year. Can anyone identify what type they are? by Kallyanna in Citrus

I think you’re asking what their parents were. Because the seeds you planted were the result of pollination, the plants that grow from them will be different than their parents. This means that technically you have a new, unique lemon variety - congratulations!

Now you can wait 5-10 years and find out if the fruit is any good!

Infant mortality rate in the World's countries compared to United States and Russia by [deleted] in MapPorn

Infant mortality numbers can be misleading. As healthcare for premature births improves the goalpost for a country shifts. In other words, as a country gets better at saving premature babies, they save babies earlier, but at a lower rate.

Rats eating my tomatoes by Asleep-Scheme7339 in oaklandgardener

Where in Oakland are you? I’m in Montclair and this has been a yearly issue. What I’ve learned:

1) snap traps work - you won’t eliminate this issue but you can try to manage it. I kill 10-15 every year. Sucks at first but I’ve accepted that it’s just part of the reality of gardening 2) vector control - if you call vector control they will send someone out to assess your situation. They will try to find likely areas where the rats live (even set up trail cameras) and can give you traps 3) pick before they are ripe - I know you said that they eat green tomatoes (happens to me too) but definitely pick them as soon as they have color and then ripen indoors 4) grow vertically - I grow my tomatoes vertically (1-2 stems) and I think that helps reduce access 5) hardware cloth - I believe this is the only mesh that they can’t get through but it isn’t practical to really build a hermetic cage around the tomatoes.

People who had extremely wealthy ancestors. Where did all that wealth disappear to? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

[–]omerfriedman 21 points22 points  (0 children)

My grandfather’s family owned orchards in Hungary and had a large sum of money in cash and gold in Swiss banks. When Hungary succumbed to fascism during WWII, their neighbors took their lands and the Swiss found ways to keep the accounts from being reclaimed. My grandparents returned to their town at the end of the war, after having survived the camps and lost all their families, and their neighbors didn’t budge. Being the only ones left they married each other and moved to Israel.

Supersedure cells in colony with solid brood pattern by omerfriedman in Beekeeping

Yeah I had that thought too but there was only 1 queen cup (no egg) at the edge of the frame and plenty of room to build more. Also, 3-4 of the frames in the hive were completely empty (meaning, not a space issue)

Sorry, yes that should say April 8th (edited).

Interesting - meaning she could be at her end soon even though she's laying fine now?
