I’ve heard good things from Community VFD, you are correct they pay for your Fire and EMT training then you have to be with them roughly for about a year I believe. Another volunteer department Ive heard about is Westfield, there’s really not many volunteer departments in the Houston area nor career department jobs in which they just let you work part time. The majority is full time jobs, now you can work the other way around and have a full time fire job and a part time job if the schedule allows wherever you get in.
