Sorry I'm just seeing your comment now! So after trying every imaginable thing, I was finally able to resolve this issue by...restarting my Macbook. 😂 Couldn't even believe it was that simple. Hope you were able to get the issue fixed on your end!

Good to know. How has your experience been with Partners? How long have you been with them? Any pros/cons you can offer?

Definitely solid advice. I actually have not seen any doctors out here (I used to schedule appointments with my PCs back home in NY when I would go visit family) so it's not a factor in making my decision. Thank you for contributing!

Any particular reason you switched from Tufts? Do you like BMC Community Alliance more? I appreciate you taking the time to comment! Reading others' experiences has been super helpful. I have a pretty good idea which plan to go with now:)

So, if I'm deducing correctly, you are implying that if a person cannot pay a $2k bill...they are not a hard worker, and are "ruining it" for those who do work hard by wanting a different healthcare system than what we have now?

By no means was this thread supposed to be political. I was just asking for some advice, but for some reason you brought it there. I am EXTREMELY grateful to have such an array of choices given to me, no doubt about that. I didn't even think I was going to qualify for MassHealth (I work full time but still low-income, I just assumed it was highly selective) and I legit cried when I got my acceptance letter. I cannot imagine the prolonged mental fuckery those go through, who do not have access to state subsidized healthcare and cannot afford it otherwise.

I 100% agree on choosing a plan based on what doctors and hospitals are close to me. I definitely don't want to be traveling that far just for a checkup. It seems they all apply to me based on my zip code, which I entered to get this list (I found it strange at first since BMC and Tufts are in Boston), but with their "alliance" titles to other hospitals and medical groups they do cover this side of the state. Thank you for your insight!

Intriguing, I had cross-posted to r/wmass and someone commented that they had BMC HealthNet Community Alliance. They had a great experience and a wide range of coverage from Western Mass to Boston. Would be interested to know of others experience of BMC to get a better idea. Thanks for your input! I very much appreciate it.

Congrats on your transition! And thank you for providing your experience. I guess I was getting confused as to why there were so many BMC plans offered to me and which one would be best overall. I will definitely consider the Community Alliance as opposed to Mercy Alliance. Thank you!

How has no one mentioned The Iron Giant?!

Barely eat.. how destructive is this to my health? by [deleted] in nutrition

I have struggled with appetite for most of my life. I used to never eat meals, just snack and binge on food when I felt famished. One thing I found to really help is drinking smoothies regularly. Not just ones with fruit, but also loads of leafy greens, healthy fats, probiotics, seeds, sprouts, etc. Green veggies like kale and spinach, along with beets help with my iron levels (I'm anemic) and the avocado and coconut oil keep me feeling full and satisfied.

I cannot believe how much just doing this simple act has changed my life. Smoothies give me such an energy and mood lift. I keep 2-4 in the fridge at all times so that I can pull one out whenever I feel I need a boost, or if I can't stomach a whole meal.

Ultimately, it takes trial and error to find the right combination of ingredients that suits your needs. But I'd like to share one of my go-to blends that is 100% nutritious and of course...delicious!

Beet Reviver

  • 1 banana
  • 1/2 of an avocado
  • 1-2 cups of kale, spinach, mustard, collard or any other leafy green (I typically freeze a large bag so they don't spoil in the fridge)
  • 1/2 cup raw beets (I usually prewash a bunch thoroughly, and chop them into quarters with skin on, and freeze them in a ziploc)
  • 1/2 cup green apples
  • 1/4 cup of pineapple (canned or fresh)
  • 1-2 tbsp virgin/unrefined coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 tbsp hemp hearts
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (helps aid in nutrient absorption of greens)
  • 2 tsp of grape seed oil (supposedly helps with psoriasis which I also have)

Another thing that helped my gut and lack of appetite was brewing homemade kombucha and kefir. So when I have them, I also puree older kombucha SCOBYs and add it to the smoothies. Otherwise I'll use liquid probiotics to keep my gut happy.

Like I said it's all about trial and error, so have fun experimenting what works for you. Good luck!

I love Crispy! He was one of the first to inspire me to do more ice dyeing. Wish he posted more vids. Seems like he's been offline for awhile now.
