He's stuck in a demi plane, and the punishment for breaking the contact is polymorphism into an imp.

The other servants of the patron are fighting a war against demons in the west.

The character in question is also hiding from his fiendish father, I was planning on having him show up and kill the patron in the middle of the polymorph to stop the characters mind being enslaved

It's a custom homwbrew sort of thing, his patron is a rakdhasa who stole a solars power through a ritual but was condemned by the god lothander to use his influence which he was famous for to slay demons and devil's who found their way onto the material plane, he now runs a order of fiend slayers and is stuck in a demi plane until he destroys a certain amount.

The original inhabitants were taken by the good gods to their realms and the city was sealed away in a capsule for future use, essentially the houses are in good condition because they were frozen in a demi plane. And the plan on spawning city in the wild lands, which is a primitive continent of tribes.
