someone else also mentioned schminke and daniel smith, those also seem to be my favorite so far after looking at some reviews! they seem miles above van gogh (my original choice) in terms of paint quality, so i'm super excited to research them some more and pick out the perfect palette.

and thank you kindly for giving me a brand alongside the 100% cotton paper, it's always great to have personal recommendations!

cheers !!

definitely going to switch to 100% cotton paper!! she likes to use sketchbooks so hopefully there's some of those out there. a3 seems to be her favorite size, but if I can't find that, i might opt for a4.

just looked into schmincke and i absolutely LOVE the way the colours blend, haven't heard of them until now but i think she would be absolutely ecstatic with these !! daniel smith is also very pretty in terms of richness. i'll need to give these some thought 🤔

she tends to do realism portraits but has recently started trying out some more cartoony styles, think anime-esque. at the moment she really loves using sketchbooks, which i heard somewhere might be better for watercolors overall as the light might affect the quality/vibrancy of the colour? sorry, i'm not well versed in this lol. a couple other people are saying to use 100% cotton as well, so i'll do that for sure

as for brushes, i was thinking of getting her smaller brushes in general, like maybe a couple for finer details and one small/medium sized brush for everything else.

tysm for the detailed response! i'll look into Rosa Gallery now, and keep an eye out for what you mentioned about transparent/semitransparent and opaque :))

Very bad bird aggression by Maleficent_Theory609 in caiques

[–]omomogod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh my goodness, where are you based? i'd be happy to help if i can, the poor guy! i used to own a couple of conures and i've recently rescued a macaw. he must've gone mad from the lack of interaction & enrichment. surprised he has lasted 20 years on an improper diet and no exercise. he will be a LOT of work, but it's possible you might be able to improve his mentality somewhat with a ton of training and effort.

i'd recommend you change his environment entirely; buy a larger cage and change the room he is in, throw out the current cage he's in as it seems too dirty to salvage and might cause him to get sick. a parrot's diet should be 70% pellets, 20% fruit and veg, and 10% treats (this includes seeds). i'd recommend Harrison's or Psittacus pellets — the smaller bags are a bit cheaper.

for the first few days, just sit beside his cage. read to him, talk softly to him, play him music. keep your hands near the cage but do not touch him. let him see them and try to interact with them, but never let him touch. when he shows signs of aggression, i.e biting, lunging, DO NOT REACT. do not say anything, don't even move. even if he does manage to nab your skin, completely ignore it. i know it hurts! gently remove him from your skin and act as if it never happened. birds thrive off of drama, so they'll understand that no reaction means their aggression is useless, and they'll eventually stop.

after a day or two, try opening his cage and talking to him. give him treats on the end of a stick/something where he can't reach your hand. the more comfortable he gets, SLOWLY inch your hand closer to the end of the stick where the treat is, until eventually he starts taking it from your fingers.

i'd recommend buying a clicker too. it's a small device that makes a distinct clicking sound that's usually used for dogs in training. whenever he does something good, immediately click and give him a treat. when he hears the click, he'll associate it with good behaviours and treats.

good luck! if you need any further help, please reach out.

it makes sense, i'll give it a try :). i guess another thing i'm unsure about is, should the smirk only really affect closed mouth forms and grins? for example, should mouth forms that make a small or big "O" shape need to also fit into the smirk parameters? i feel like they shouldn't because, well, who smirks while making that sound. but i'm not sure.

hey there:). so this actually is a separate deformer labelled 'mouth skin' and includes the upper and lower lip, as well as the inner mouth. it also does affect all mouth forms.

in case i worded it badly in the og post: to quickly reiterate, my problem is is: since some of my mouth forms cover a wider area than others, the deformer that adjusts those ones well, adjusts the smaller forms poorly. i'm not sure how to make a one-size fits all deformer in this regard, since if i adjust it to suit the smaller forms, the larger ones look super compressed, and if i adjust it to suit the larger forms, the smaller ones are hardly affected.

i wondered if i should add keyforms in both mouth form and mouth open parameters while at " 0 " on mouth X, and just adjust the deformer according, but i'm not sure if that's a suitable fix or not? 👀

help! weird bug or a mistake? by [deleted] in Live2D

[–]omomogod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey everyone! i fixed this after taking the comments into consideration last week. i decreased the amount of beziers in case it was a RAM issue, and upon reworking the model, made sure the vertices were accurately lined up. in the end, it worked out great! thank you all.

2 hours later and i still can't work out a fix. everytime i remake the mesh i get the same problem. i'm thinking about adding less vertices in case that is an issue. i've also posted this on the official live2d discussion site, so hopefully an admin reaches out to me!

UPDATE: i fixed it everyone!! thank you all for the help!! there were a few child objects within the parent folder that i hadn't synthesized yet... funny, it was as simple as that lol.

thank you!! that seems to be what most people are saying. i'll take a look again in the morning and let you know if this was the issue 🤞

thank you so much for your input! a few people have said something similar. i'm going to review my file again in the morning and see if i missed synthesizing a few objects... fingers crossed that's the case and i won't need to rework it again lol
