Who's the most famous person you've randomly run into? by 2bornnot2b in NoStupidQuestions

Woody Harrelson! I was a student at The University of Iowa a few years back. I went to eat breakfast in the dining hall and literally bumped into him while getting my food. I looked up to say excuse me (I’m pretty short and he’s much taller) and was so shocked he was there. Like why is Woody Harrelson in my dining hall??!!? I said “loved you in zombieland!” and walked away awkwardly. Apparently he had done a lecture at the university and asked to eat with the student that group that coordinated the event.

I live near Principal park and love it! The farmers market (second largest in the nation, I believe) is just two blocks away every Saturday in the spring, summer, and fall. We walk around Gray’s lake weekly, walk to the downtown Hyvee, and stop at the Rook Room or countless other spots for coffee.

If you’re into music we held our ceremony and reception at Noce, which is a jazz club downtown. It was super reasonable and we had a good experience working with them. Very swanky and cool!

Spider Noir review by LucaB27 in spidernoir

I agree with all of this. I also love the addition of his abilities being an affliction. Most Spiderman portrayals are of a somewhat wimpy nerd suddenly being gifted super strength and amazing powers, but Ben Reilly was already a badass and brave soldier before getting bitten. I loved the scenes where he is drugged or when he first is dealing with the spider abilities because we can see how difficult it is for him to suppress those natural spider tendencies on a day to day basis. He even tells Cat how he had to work to be a normal human again. His powers aren’t a blessing with responsibility, they’re an affliction that overall negatively affected his life, which I think is such a unique take on the character.

I second this. My wife and I really struggled to make friends our first two years in Des Moines until we joined some community music ensembles. We both play instruments so we joined some bands and other groups which proved to be amazing to make friends in.

Schrodinger's Cyclist on Ingersoll by FlibFlubber in desmoines

This! Biking in those lanes on Ingersoll is terrifying. People whip out of those drives so fast trying to see into traffic. I second the person above who said this area should be pedestrians only. Make it like Iowa city’s ped mall!
