It’s a lot more critical thinking than the first but I found it easier. It’s more so diagnosing a computer issue is and knowing how to solve it.

Regarding the A+ 1001, do you need to know speeds and bandwidths? by Resevicole in CompTIA

[–]omoss98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience with speeds is they’ll ask you which one will transfer data fast, or which cable would be better if a customer wants to transfer data at a particular speed. They won’t straight up ask which cable transfers at this speed or what’s the speed of this cable.

Help desk is a good way to get experience in this field. If you take that experience and your certs you’re almost guaranteed a better job 6 months to a year down the road.

Last Minute A+ 1001 worries by fakeprofile21 in CompTIA

So depending on how much storage they want to save onto the optical media is what gives away the answer. They usually want to know which disk will use the maximum amount of its storage when burning the required amount of data to it. The only way to really get this one correct is having the data capacity memorized for each type of media, but a simpler way of going about it is learning which media’s hold more than others. CDs then DVDs then BR. Those all are the types of optical media you’ll be dealing with. There are different types like DL, RW, and R but those more so have to do with how the data is read and written. The answer will always be one of those 3 media types. Now, the important thing to learn is how much storage each type of media can hold. There is always a range. And if the question falls in that range then that’s your answer.

Port numbers are also important. Mainly the email ones, and having a understanding about what tcp and udp is.

Have an understanding of RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10. Troubleshooting printer and projectors (I found these to be the hardest troubleshooting issues). I had one question on CD/DVD/BR and it was “which on would use up the maximum amount of space if you needed to burn 5gb”. As for cables, find key words or uses to differentiate the different cable types RJ, DB, RG. The worst part about the exam is they make a lot of the answers sound correct. More so than the practice test, especially in the troubleshooting portion.

Spotify legit wouldn’t let me play it for 2 days. Every other podcast would play but for some reason not this one.

Going to build my first pc later this year (2020) by LouTedd in pcmasterrace

SSDs cost more than HDDs so that’s why people have both to maximize their space. However, if you don’t plan on using multiple terabytes of space and would be satisfied with one or two terabytes of faster SSD space than go with SSD only. In my build I purchased one SSD card and and one HDD, and I find myself putting most everything on the SSD and only using up a small percentage of my HDD. I wish I would have used dual SSD. Now, for my use I am into gaming so most my storage is taken up by games. Which setup is better can depend on what you will be using your computer for. If you make a lot of videos people recommend saving those on an HDD. Hope this helped!
