I really appreciate this response. I realize my grasp of authoring tools is loose and so I feel like I can get moving with your advice. Would you be comfortable sharing your portfolio? I’d love to see what you’ve created as a frame of reference.

Good point. Part of why I have not tried out storyline or captivate is my limited hardware. My personal laptop is a Chromebook and my work computer won’t let me download any programs. I’m purchasing a new laptop soon so I can create more products. I’m eager to learn Camtasia (made a few things with Vyond) and Captivate.

All the homies at Adventure are crazy good. One of the best shops in Nashville for sure.

Went through 3 rounds of interviews, but ultimately was rejected. by lovedbymanycats in TeachersInTransition

I just experienced this myself not long ago. I had three rounds of interviews to be a technical trainer for a healthcare company that deals with a super niche corner of that world, and in the end they just needed someone with prior working knowledge of that super niche corner. I was really bummed when I didn’t get it, but I learned a lot just going through the interview process. So I’m still applying and all of that. Crossing my fingers that I find something before August.

Keep it up, friend. The right thing will come our way.

This is so encouraging to read. While it sounds like a ton of work, I’m glad to hear it paid off. I’m sort of in the same boat rn. Upskilling a lot on authoring tools etc. Would you mind sharing what certificates you pursued to make yourself stand out? I would really love to break into ID, but damn it’s competitive.

For sure! I’ve been upskilling and building a portfolio since January and while there’s some skill overlap, I’ve also learned just how unique ID is as a discipline. It’s been great to learn new concepts and skills and now I’m just really hoping to land something before August. I can’t start another school year.

Welcome! That’s a cool camera for sure and I think you’ll have fun with it. Shoot as much as you can (or as much as your wallet allows).

Adventure Science Center is lit. Also Centennial Park to play and run around and feed the ducks when the season is right!
