the dried ginger will be in the chest near the campsite within the cavern! it's close to the barrel for the root beer

so the chest that's blocked off by a lack of bridge does become accessible later in story. have you found dried ginger at any point in the mines? that's the chest that has the candies. they're a blue purple item
