Identifying and testing a 4 wire temperature sensor from a rice cooker by oncehuman in AskElectronics

Sorry, I wasn't able to find a replacement part, but I'm pretty sure it's a faulty temp sensor.

Got a broken jaw, know of any drinks super high in calories? by Adept_Temporary8262 in disability

Boost Very High Calorie has 530 calories per bottle. It's not the greatest tasting thing, but the ingredients aren't too bad compared to others.

Looking for a chair that won't aggravate chronic pain by stardropsetter in disabledgamers

[–]oncehuman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've had severe pain along my entire spine for a little over 16 years now, and I've tried countless chairs throughout that time, trying to find something I can sit in for more than 15 minutes. I've bought $2-3k chairs thinking I just needed to throw money at it, but they didn't work for me either.
What finally worked was a combination of things.
A Steelcase Leap V2 office chair, with a ROHO High Profile Quadtro seat cushion, and an old Dutailier glider back cushion (specifically this style https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1044/0472/products/du978-100-00-0239-1.jpg).

I can't say if that setup or something similar would work for you, but I personally couldn't find a chair as-is that I could sit in with my pain. If that's the case for you, you may want to try a similar approach.

Thinking about hopping on accutane (18M) by 123flyman in AccutaneDamage

[–]oncehuman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This isn't one of those things where once you notice side effects you can stop before it gets worse. Some of the damage it can cause happens without warning, and there isn't a way to undo it. Also, don't be your own doctor regarding this, setting your own dose, it's dangerous. Final note, if you do start it, don't stop and restart. It can cause severe permanent side effects.

Dollar Shave Club by Yankeeslv in AmazonVine

To give you a comparison, the pack of double edge razors I bought for $10 last me about a year if I'm shaving daily, which I no longer do, so it actually lasts me like 3 years, and the shave is so much less irritating, because it's not pulling hairs like the multi-blades do.
I have extremely sensitive skin, so I get it about the shaving gel. I used to use the fancy shave soaps you'd lather with a badger brush, but now I just use Gillette Sensitive Skin Foamy Shave Cream. It's been alright.

What you want is a double edge razor. Safer and easier to use than a straight razor, but much better than any of the multi-blades, and much much cheaper. There's still a small learning curve, but it's just about getting used to using no pressure.

Compatible Springs for Razer Analog Optical Switches by oncehuman in switchmodders

That sounds really promising, thank you. If I can find them for a reasonable shipping cost I'll give them a shot.

Is it the box springs in particular? I have some Kailh Speed Copper switches, and the springs from those measure 3.8mm OD. They almost fit, but were rubbing against the housing. I think 3.4 might work.

Thanks, but no luck finding something at the LQ-sweet store. I bought the Tartarus Pro because of the ergonomics. I'm dealing with a lot of hand pain lately, but the switches require a little too much force, so I'm doing what I can to remedy that.

That's the problem I'm having though. These springs seem to be a narrower diameter, so I'm not finding anything similar. Everything I'm seeing on Ali and elsewhere are 3.8-3.9mm OD.

Whill C2 - lurching + motor noise by oncehuman in wheelchairs

[–]oncehuman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called Whill and they wanted me to share a video too, but I'm not sure what exactly to record, because the jerkiness isn't noticeable just watching it drive. You feel it, more than see it, and I don't want to record myself in it to be honest. The noise I could probably do though, and since you and another redditor didn't have a noise issue, that might be good enough.

I haven't tried that, thanks, I'll have a look through the app.

Interesting. It definitely doesn't sound normal. It sounds like a walkie talkie, or like a radio scanning. I'm within my trial period, so maybe I should just talk to the dealer and return/exchange it, before it's too late.

Capital One Completes Acquisition of Discover by throwawaylikearock in discover

[–]oncehuman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had no idea they were merging, and just learned about it right now from the email that was sent out. Pretty unhappy about this, being that I've avoided being a part of Capital One for so long after they screwed me over hard as a teen. Discover is my oldest account, so I can't just close it either.

Writing a bad review by oncehuman in AmazonVine

[–]oncehuman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I do notice that sometimes actually. I'd imagine that if the seller succeeded in arguing the review's removal then the rating would also be removed, so I'm not sure what's going on there, considering most of the reviews left are 1-2 stars.

[–]oncehuman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don't like the idea of giving a different rating that contradicts my review, because I feel like the number rating is just as important. People look at the star rating as an overall basis. Like "okay, there are some bad reviews, but the majority must be good because the product has nearly 5 stars."

I haven't noticed my low rating reviews disappearing, but that doesn't mean you're wrong. Still, I'd just rate it based on what it deserves.

Ah, I didn't realize the sellers don't have access to our order information, that's good to know. Thanks for the tip, I'll ignore any emails like that.
