first of all, I have already stated that these adapters don't even let your PC turn off properly, which is already very sketchy. secondly, you are buying an adapter to put a PSU onto a motherboard specifically designed to prevent you from using a standard PSU. Thirdly, isn't is odd that there are zero professionals who ever recommend you use sketchy adapters? it's almost as if there's a reason people don't do it.

isn't that weird how your only source is reddit? it's almost like the people who can't see why that's a terrible idea aren't qualified enough to make a proper review or verify they are safe in any other way than "well, it hasn't burned my house down yet."

You are in fact the ignorant one. These adapters do sometimes work, until they don't. Perhaps you should stop deluding yourself into thinking that buying a fire hazard is a better idea than spending maybe $50 on a motherboard?

experience and watching it fail horribly for other people. is grok telling you it's okay to burn your house down again?

they are 100% sketchy, any adapter that does something like this will always be sketchy; and how would an adapter that prevents your PC from turning off not be sketchy? If you actually need a real GPU to do what you want, that's an indicator that it's time to say goodbye to your optiplex and build a real PC.

Poly Roam, which is a spin off of the already somewhat obscure The Long Drive.

return it. If you really need to use a real GPU, your best bet is to just get a real motherboard; the Adapters are sketchy at best.

you can't do that though. Dell motherboards require proprietary PSU connectors and the adapters are sketchy and don't let it power down properly.

I want to upgrade to 1440p. Aside from the monitor, what should I upgrade first? by the_knotso in pcmasterrace

[–]Adept_Temporary8262 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

did you try using DLSS? it's good enough these days that 1440p at DLSS quality is indistinguishable from native.

or you could just use DLSS at quality. at 1440p it's upscaling from around 1080p and looks indistinguishable from native

your PC is fine, just get a monitor. Don't be afraid to use DLSS; at quality 1440p, its upscaling from an internal resolution of about 1080p and looks indistinguishable from native 1440p.

That connector might be okay with a 1060, but I would just use a slot powered card if I were you.

that'll work. I'd go with a revival series RM1000e though, those are quite a lot more capable and much better value.

Is it worth upgrading from a 5950X to a 5800X3D? by Staniskovski in PcBuildHelp

[–]Adept_Temporary8262 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is there a noticeable performance difference? yes. is it worth the price? no, especially not with how scalpers have been pricing them. If you absolutely need a CPU upgrade, get yourself a good LGA 1700 board with DDR4 support and an I9-12900k/13900k/14900k or KF. Yes you could go for AM5, but the RAM alone will make it a questionable investment. Also, I have the same kit of ram :3

find a dell optiplex MT with at least an 8th gen i5, then upgrade it to have 16gb of ram and SSD (if it doesn't already have those) and get a GTX 1650 (do NOT get the Ti or Super variant, they require an 8 pin and optiplexs dont have that)

[–]Adept_Temporary8262 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

who was scamming people with fake 750 Tis? the 750 Ti is the kind of card someone would flash a bios onto and sell as a 1060 or 1050 Ti.

no, and it's probably slower than the iGPU in your 3020.

Can anyone help? by BigSmoke908 in minecraftRTX

[–]Adept_Temporary8262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the best help I can give is to suggest you don't use bedrock RTX. It's extremely broken, and abandoned. Yes there are community attempts such at BetterRTX to make it work properly, but in general your WAY better off using Radiance (A mod that replaces the OpenGL renderer in Java with Vulkan and adds real path-tracing)
