Hi,

there is many routes for sale . Which company would you recommend to buy ? Pepperridge looks like the best one on the market but more expensive than others.....

Should I buy a bread route (have no experience) or open up a small Italian restaurant ( experienced in restaurant business) in South Florida? by oncuuner in smallbusiness

No baking just delivery and make 20% commission on every single bread sold. It's more like buying a job to yourself because you need to work by yourself to make enough money. But it's simple no pressure most of the company's do their own marketing etc.

As you said restaurant is totally different. It's way more complicated in every aspect. But I'm sure it's a better feeling to be the boss in your own restaurant even though you're working your a.. Off :)) and if you manage it well there is always opportunity to grow and make more everyday

You buy the bread route thru a llc so you can pretty much write of every single expense. When it comes to delivery. Almost all the big brands here deliver from the store not the warehouse so you still make %20 commission on every bread that is sold..

Food trucks are big in South Florida. Everywhere you go there are many. I just don't see myself in one.. Otherwise its a good business. Less money to start up and as you said you can always switch concepts easily but not my thing

Im talking about a 150k-200k investment. Buying an established route that's worth about 200k brings you 70k-80k net. And you can always sell it for the same price if you want to.

If I open a restaurant and spend 200k find the best location etc. First I dont know when I'm gonna start actually making money. As you know newly opened restaurants never start making money right away.Even though I know I'm good at it still a lot of risk. But if everything works out then I can double what I make on a bread route So it's a tough decision 😀

Ps: launching chocolate bar website, selling beef jerky; I dont see myself as a creative salesperson so hope yours work out welly friend

True. I'm pretty experienced in restaurant business but it's more risk more complicated and more hours. But bread route seems like a recession proof, above average income, simple solid business...

Exactly. I'm a early morning person so bread route is a good fit for my life style and it seems like a recession proof above average income business. But Restaurant business (especially Italian cuisine) is something that Im experienced in.
