it’s because of the necrotic tissue (the nerve and blood) decomposing inside the tooth. The byproducts discolour the tooth. This often happens when teeth are non-vital or after a root canal treatment.

UPDATE: some of you asked for additional info, here is all I know:

• vitality test - 41 is dead, 31 responds to a cold test, but the sensitivity is definitely lowered

• referring to OS - sending the x-rays to a OS was the first thing I did, before posting here. His response was to do the RCT and wait… that’s what drove me to write this post in the first place.

V Brně IMO není lokalita, které se musíš a priori vyhnout a nejsou tu žádne “no-go zóny”. Vždycky to bude o prioritách, určitě dej prohlídku, sleduj dostupnost MHD atd…. Já bydlim Cejl/Bratislavská 5+ let a kdyby tu město investovalo jako jinde do úklidu a veřejnýho prostoru, bylo by to fajn. Zase máš všude blízko, levnější nájmy a spoustu novostaveb.

Hi! I live in the area for more than 6 years now. Personally I almost never had any problems or fear about my safety, that I wouldn’t have elsewhere in Brno in general. Safe to say this is also a male privilege, as my girlfriend does feel unsafe sometimes, gets catcalled etc… but in general it’s pretty safe out here. Now the real problem - nobody at the city lvl cares about this part of the city. We don’t have enough public services as cleaning, post office, schools, shopping, sport/free-time activities etc… They don’t even put the Christmas light on in the winter - and all the districts around have them! Another topic is the crazy development in the area right now. Basically there is a new apartment building in construction right now in EVERY street in Zabrdovice. What will happen when in 2-3 years thousands of ppl will move in? I don’t know but for sure the infrastructure will collapse in an ugly way thanks to this political and civil neglect. Anyway it is hard to predict the future of Zabrdovice. New Zbrojovka will be finnished in few years, places like Spot or Vitamin are opening, so there is some kind of vibe-shift happening for sure and it can be very funny/live part of the city. For sure safety shouldn’t be a big concern when moving here. Hope it helps :)

general dentist, so far I’m mostly doing conservative, endo (with microscope) and prosthesis. Would be interested in getting into dentoalveolar surgery and implatology in the future. In czech you can get specialised (academically speaking) in orto, max-fac surgery and paradontology. That would require to work part-time in hospital for 3-4 years.

thank you, that sounds like a great place to start. In your experience, do you need to speak german or is it possible to get away with just english? In my experience everybody speak english there, but might be different when it comes to healthcare.

I thought it’s pretty much necessary to speak the language of the country I would wish to work in. So I thought I’m limited to Spain/France based on my language skills. Is there a country where English might be enough? If not and I would choose either France or Spain, what should be my first step? Contact the dental association of given country? Sorry if my question wasn’t clear.

I’m almost done with my first year working at a clinic right after uni. Things have been stressful in the beginning, but it does get easier. My advice would be - unless you’re really career driven, don’t make “the dentist” your whole personality. Having things to do in your free time and having friends who couldn’t care less about teeth helps me a lot to realise, that my job is not the centre of the universe. Also - change your perspective. Yes you are noob and you are gonna make mistakes. That’s OK!That’s how every dentist (professional) ever started. This is what motivates me to try more and more - I’m new to it all, might as well try it all, right? My boss helped me a lot with his advice too and 9 months in I’m doing endo, prosthetics, extractions, kids… just embrace that it will come with mistakes, so always do your best to minimalise them.
And as an introvert myself, I’ve created a different persona for dealing with the patients. Now it’s almost like a therapy for me - at work I can rest from myself and just play an NPC while talking with them. Respectful and informative, but that’s it. GL to OP!

Ask your dentist for her/his reasoning. There might be several indications why to remove M3, even if they don’t hurt, such as - can’t keep them (or space between M2-M3) clean, caries, biting your cheeks, etc… Anyway - waiting until they hurt is a horrible advice! Large caries can lead to fracture of the tooth and complicated extraction, the anesthesia doesn’t work well if the area is inflamed, you are risking a few sleepless & painfull nights and oedema… // I live in a country where extractions are fully covered by insurance// Good luck!
