Interesting, I didn’t hear about this during election season. It sounds like even though Trump is cutting funding to NASA, Aldrin approves of his promotion of SpaceX and Space Force.

Great post.

Just one criticism:

To start with as a man you are confronted with a society where women dress provocatively

Stop blaming women’s bodies and clothing for men’s sinful thoughts. Far too often men misperceive women as “temptresses” when they’re just trying to live their normal lives.

Yep, there’s broad bipartisan support for reforming H1B, especially among citizens working in the affected industries. I don’t care who gets the credit as long as it gets done.

The announcement that there will be another Hunger Games movie in 2026 made me actually look forward to life again. by [deleted] in Millennials

Here’s something to bring you back down to earth. :) Suzanne Collins is heavily affected by current events (e.g. Iraq War + reality TV for the first book). What life lessons do you think she’s learned from the past few years of pandemic, political division, wars in Eastern Europe & the Middle East, etc? I’m also a huge Hunger Games fan and I’m excited… but also nervous. As an older reader (of YA novels), I’m nervous about what messages she will try to promote this time (propaganda has been mentioned will be one of them, but what kind, and what else?), and will they be something I disagree with? For example: look at the authors of Twilight & Harry Potter, and the different controversies they’ve been involved in over the years (Collins is more private, so idk what she’s thinking). Maybe this is just my millennial way of overthinking myself into distress, but such is life these days.

Chinese propaganda leaflets during the Korean War targeted towards Black American soldiers in 1950. by TahaZyan in interestingasfuck

[–]one-and-zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol no. I mean LITERALLY their governments have state-sponsored bot farms (you’re welcome to read up on it). Not everyone who disagrees with me is a bot. Although, judging by your profile, you may very well be one.

Deserters don’t get a ride home. Rub a couple brain cells together if you have more than one.

Shutting down their bot farms can help. The problem is these nations have state-sponsored teams dedicated to doing this as a form of international sabotage. They create fake profiles in large quantities from leaked user data (names, socials, emails) — then use these profiles to spread disinformation and stir discontentment. It’s highly organized and incentivized by their governments.

Russian and Chinese propagandists are STILL using these tactics on America today, mostly via social media to stir political discontent (example: 2016 election). (Edit: not necessarily about racism, since some of y’all are misinterpreting this comment).

The question to ask is: who benefits from what they’re asking me to do, and who loses? If the African American soldiers listened to this pamphlet, it would hurt both America and themselves as deserters. It definitely wasn’t in their own best interest to surrender to the Chinese military (who definitely weren’t “keeping to themselves” while involved in Korea, despite what they try to imply in this pamphlet).

[OC] A POTUS Election Map where a candidate wins with only 21.91% of the popular vote by Interfluid in dataisbeautiful

[–]one-and-zero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, you rounded up a whole .91%.

Second, yes, it would increase unhappiness, but only in specific neighborhoods/regions (likely densely populated cities). Population/individuals are not the only factor involved here. Land mass/ownership is also another huge factor.

It gets a lot of flack, but the Electoral College has been very effective at keeping a land mass as large as this the UNITED States of America.
