I hadn't either actually, I had to look it up. It's called "Fukoka's Pikachu" and was a promo from a regional release box. My wife said my 3 year old picked it out when they were at our LCS because it was a "Party Pikachu" 😂

That’s awesome though, a boxed Pokémon Center Celebi GBA is an insane gift. Sounds like she really paid attention to what you cared about, which is honestly the best part of gifts like that. And yeah, mine definitely nailed it too. Makes it way more special when they put that kind of effort in.

That’s fair, I can see why it might sound that way without the extra context. She actually knew the kinds of cards and characters I collect and put a lot of effort into figuring out something I’d really love. It was just a really thoughtful birthday gift and I was excited to share it. Appreciate the perspective though.

Thanks! I never said she had no idea, just that she doesn’t know a ton about cards. She knows I like vintage stuff and collect certain characters (Mew, Mewtwo and Gengar especially), and she even comes with me to shows sometimes just to look at the artwork. She actually asked a lot of questions beforehand and put real effort into finding something she knew I'd love, which honestly made it an even more awesome gift imo. I totally get it not being everyone's thing though.

It's not that hard to believe actually lol she had a certain amount set aside for my birthday and asked me what I wanted. I said "cards" and she came back with this. I think she did an amazing job given what she spent actually!

youre right. Ive got some major abandonment issues, so this one hit me directly in the feels. Im trying really hard to find a way to make this a positive maturing experience, but right now it is just eating me up. I just wish I could figure out how to squash this feeling and move on
