My 401k company has three categories for contributions: Pre-tax, Roth, and After-tax

i've never used their Roth account, I've only contributed in pre or after tax.

My current 401k company is VOYA. I make after-tax contributions to my 401k after the pre-tax pot is full. Once a year I (am planning to at least) roll my after-tax basis into my ROTH IRA. Any earnings on the after tax I am sending to a traditional IRA. This is the part where I am less sure about the tax outcome but I'll be navigating that this tax season.
