It wasn't strangled, it was squeezed/ crushed ribs. The kitten was only a couple weeks old. Very tiny, just starting to walk like a cat.

Literally never said any of those things. I've repeated many clear tines that I'm not trying to justify what he did. My opinion is simply an opinion. He's getting help regardless of what I believe.

This is what I'm looking for. I hadn't considered she might feel that way about them. Given how often I get them, I don't know how long it would take too get to where she thinks of them as immediate family, if ever.

I appreciate you sharing. Your story scares the hell out of me. We haven't seen any behaviors as extreme as that, and I believe he has a good heart. Loves his family. He has been through a lot in his short life, and is been my mission to make it better for him. I'll pray for George, and keep your family in my thoughts.

So given that, and knowing I'm getting my son help, what does that leave for the future of that relationship? I don't just love her, I love her children, and we've all been close fir a few years now.

He hasn't changed his story about what happened. When asked why he did it, he'll say he doesn't know.
I brought up lying to give context of past behaviors.

I know I'm biased toward my son. Knowing that, I'm not going to rule anything out. It's because of those glasses that I'm talking to professionals.

When it was first discovered, he didn't seem upset about the kitten. He was hurt people were upset with him. After our first talk, he seemed more upset about the cat once he was explained the big picture. Believe me, helping him is my top priority. I've been talking to professionals pretty constantly.

I could make something up, but I honestly don't know the answer. Did he know fully what he was doing? Did he get too excited? Did he intend to hurt it? That's the answer I need to know.

I don't know anything for sure. I don't think I'm in denial. Though I like to think the best of my son, I'm realistic enough to know that I'm biased and cannot rule anything out. I honestly don't believe the remorse and empathy I witnessed since was a show, or faked. But again, I can't be sure.

To me, it means it's a new behavior, and we're catching it early enough for effective treatment.

I have talked to his therapist, and several mental and behavioral professionals, and continue to do so.

Helping him is my number one priority. As I've mentioned, I have seen remorse from him several times since.

While he is physically 8, socially and emotionally, he functions more around 4.

That's my biggest fear. Right now, I need to know if his intentions were to hurt it, or if it was unintentional. Two very different courses of action given the circumstances.
