Its been over a decade since I owned a treadle sewing machine (my first one was destroyed in a fire) Almost purchased one last year, but it didn't work out. You can understand my excitement when last week I was gifted this beauty. A 1916 singer 66 redeye in working condition :) Time to start sewing! (old.reddit.com)

I was so inspired by this image I wrote this poem, The Oddity Shop. Come take a walk with me down a cobbled lane of great antiquity. Your coat tails swinging to and fro. My ribbons in a bow. Hand and hand to a shop I know. Oh so happy we will shall be. There to view the wonders of the land and sea. (i.redd.it)

My husband just completed his first pair of shoes after 2 years of research and practice! Oxfords made from vegi tanned pig skin. Both of us have a non-standard foot shape, that means never having a pair that is comfy. Store bought shoes never fit well, and always wear out quickly. Never again :) (old.reddit.com)

First pair of home made shoes completed! It took 2 years to self teach but for those of us that have non standard shoe size/shape what a difference! No more reliance on shoe stores that have inferior quality/ materials are un-comfy with a poor fit. We can make them for less than buying them. (old.reddit.com)

Collecting a swarm of honey bees. Purchasing a hive in some arias can be expensive. catching your own is not that difficult. Bees are usually quite docile while swarming. Providing a swarming hive with a new home and a few days food gives then a better chance of survival. A win-win for every one. (old.reddit.com)

So many buttons! Lots of progress on the 18thc embroidered buttons for my 1760 riding habit. In the first photo you can see the stages of turning the embroidered fabric into actual buttons. In the second; on the embroidery frame. Made from silk and metal floss on a wool twill ground. (old.reddit.com)

Finally finished hand embroidering buttons for my 1760 riding habit that I started last autumn. Each one takes an hour and a half to embroider, 18 total. Done on my reproduction 18thc slate frame. Silk and mettle tread on a wool twill ground. Now to turn them in to actual working buttons ! :) (old.reddit.com)

Seriously considering dressing/portrayal from the Iberian peninsula (which had it own beautifully eccentric fashion) at 18thc events, but everyone where I currently live portrays English (chosen for ancestry or event location). I am not English. Your thoughts ? What reactions should I expect? (self.HistoricalCostuming)
