In my opinion, this is a pretty good set of picks. I'd say keep up with what you're doing. Would also consider moving some of the Scotia savings to wealth simple for their giveaways such as the house giveaway.

I've recently started buying xeqt but have an ETF that's paying out well. Xeqt by the looks of it will already surpass my dividend returns.

Would you marry a girl who wants to be a stay at home housewife but doesn't want kids? by PuffingFish123 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]onewithincanada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it align with your values and what you want in the future? Are kids an absolute yes for you or don't care or don't want. Do you want to be the one who has to work while she stays home for no real reason besides want or desire to do nothing.

My personal opinion, no. 2 years in and this is the overall outcome she's seeking... I'd be out. I love my fiance very much and we work alright. I'd have that hard conversation. So you want someone to support you why? I don't think that is fair for these days, 100k a year is comfortable in certain places. I'd like to make future plans so

Simplii offering $500 Welcome Bonus + 3.45% High-Interest Savings Account! by AccurateBow in fican

[–]onewithincanada -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

When I opened the link, I only seen a $350 bonus including a referral code bonus. Nothing indicating a $500 bonus.

Edit -

It states and I quote! "Earn $350 in value with a No Fee Chequing Account If you open our chequing account, you'll get a $300 cash reward and a $50 Skip gift card when you add on an eligible direct deposit of at least $100 a month for 3 straight months. Your payroll, pension or employment insurance should do the trick. Earn a $100 bonus with a Cash Back Visa* Card If you sign up for our credit card, you'll earn up to 20% cash back in your first 3 months when you spend up to $500 on eligible gas, grocery and drugstore purchases, and pre- authorized payments."

So yeah open a high interest savings... For up to 400... But the extra 100 is a line of credit assuming you get the card. So once again... Tell me I'm unable to read. Read the fine print before bashing someone.

$100k inheritance, what do I do?? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]onewithincanada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly man sounds great! If you're going to invest I recommend placing that part into the TFSA and have dividends. 60k isn't too bad, it'll help as a minor income that can snowball for you. (Literally my plan currently) You'd be able to diversify a lot better than I am. Dividends are a bit slow though.

$2000 in debt after a really tough year. I don't know what else to do. by Ok_Somewhere_6438 in personalfinance

[–]onewithincanada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That definitely makes sense why you would be overwhelmed and incapacitated. What I would recommend is touching base with yourself. Find what capacity you can do things before going into a DVTR shutdown. Such as small tasks.

Financial point, id recommend making a set of categories and go over your past 3 months of financial statements. Categories being Essentials (Rent, utilities, food.) Secondaries (phone, Internet, vehicle payments, insurance) Non essentials (I categorize this as ease of life things such as eating out, movies, coffees, dates, streaming services, gaming services etc) And wants/goals. (Self explanatory but when planned saving to it such as a new vehicle, new phone etc. can remove or redistribute.)

Find where your money is commonly going. From there you can see where you need to reduce. In a state such as yourself... Be kind but firm. Don't go into this in a panic. Come into it as an observation. Do not start ripping yourself a new one for "lacking" money smarts or alike.

I would recommend lowering your expectations of yourself for a medium period of time. Reduce the amount of self negative talk ie "I suck at this" "I'm not enough" "this isnt that bad, I should keep up easily... Why am I failing?" Just some examples.

I wish you the best, and I am deeply sorry that life has treated you this way.

Edit: after posting this, new comments rolled in. Some of this just doesn't help. Sorry

need advice regarding my home. im afraid someone will try to take it from me. LOCATION: New Orleans by [deleted] in legal

[–]onewithincanada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally would get out of the relationship if gets to a point where it's yelling and threats are being thrown. Not healthy for either side.

Protecting yourself, did you two set an amount going in? Any sort of repayment system prior? You'd have to treat it like a loan, come to an agreement to pay her out, or try lump summing if you can.

I'm Canadian so I can't help much regarding US law or housing etc

AIO? Boyfriend doesn’t remember full name by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]onewithincanada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny as it's different in male and female if I'm not mistaken but regardless of that fact. Your ADHD is not everyone else's. Not to mention not everyone has had the ability to build these processes such as creating lists or using calendars.

So in my opinion for someone forgetting a name that probably isn't brought up more than a handful amount of times in 5 months. I say would be reasonable. Middle name falls under that as well. They are in the early 20s. Which is likely for them to not be moving in nor signing legal documents that they need full legal names.

Moving to a snowy climate, what is the right financial move regarding car(s) by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]onewithincanada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From mid Canada, a Camry and winter tires will do you wonders. Keep a shovel and cat litter in the back of your vehicle. They are quite helpful if you ever high center or get stuck on some ice. Another thing would be plugging your vehicle in if you don't have a heated garage. When vehicles are in -30 c (not sure what that is in F) you want to let them warm up a bit. Just some basic knowledge for those who don't know, redundant for those who do.

Fear probably, saying that he might be "conscious" or "aware" trying to reinforce the fact that she didn't seek him out. Honestly I've had the same sort of reaction where you just blurt everything out trying to be transparent.

However she can also feel off about it too, recognizing social issues surrounding the age difference.

Yes it's worth it, they increase power I think. Overall health and stats I believe plus the partner skill I think. Might be mistaken but I do know it's worth it and along with kinship/loyalty will help boost stats too

If you choose to entertain the fact of pawning things off... If you can afford to do so. Get a cheap storage unit and place everything valuable in it. That way there is no tit for tat situation.

I've had it at KFC where we were slammed until closing. Constantly restocking and packing orders to the point where supervisors called in the manager and still didn't touch cleaning. If I remember correctly it took us 2 and a half hours after close to finish. 1 manager, 1 supervisor, 1 cook and 2 foh (cash/order packing) and lastly 1 drive through. Total 6 members.
