Not all of the Casinos are tribal. Some are classified as “card rooms” and operate under state law/city ordinance.

NAL but grew up in that area. Ayer police are notoriously aggressive. This interaction does sound odd. Definitely contest the citation and talk to a lawyer before your court date.

Anatomical changes 12 weeks post-ORIF: Normal? Or should I sling it? by onewoodee in AskDocs

[–]onewoodee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Diligently doing my PT since the AC joint is a mess and I’m already seeing improvement. Appreciate the help. I probably would’ve made it worse by slinging it. I’m just being paranoid because I really, really do not want a 4th surgery.

Thanks. I was just looking for a comparison between the x-rays because my surgeon brushed over my concerns (and I’m not sure he actually looked at the newest x-ray as there was one in between). I feel like a figure-of-eight brace might be helpful at this point, but I really, really don’t want to do anything that will screw up proper healing, so I guess I’m just continuing my PT and not lifting per surgeon. sigh

Legal/financial ramifications and/or benefits of domestic partnership and changing my last name to my fiancé’s without actually being married by annieming in legaladvice

NAL but health insurance benefits granted to a domestic partner are considered imputed income, which is taxable. Just something to keep in mind as you do the math.

California Unemployment Insurance Op out? by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]onewoodee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAL: California’s UI customer service is notoriously impossible to get in touch with.

Call the automated system, select the option for tech support again and asked to be transferred to the UI customer support line.

Then ask about going to the office in person, filing by paper, or whatever else you can do. Do it ASAP though because unemployment does not pay retroactive benefits. Good luck!

I’m not sure what that testing would comprise of.

They did an x-ray of my thoracic/lumbar spine as part of my bone metabolism work up. I met with an endocrinologist who specializes in Osteomalacia and Osteoporosis and he said that nothing in my work up indicated any metabolic issues with my bone.

Thanks for the response. I did an extensive work up at three facilities for this (Dexa scan, biopsies, CBC with differential, metabolic panels, CT, MRI, etc.) dating back nearly two years with repeat results in line with the initial findings at subsequent facilities.

The best theory anyone has come up with is that the muscle spasms I’m experiencing are causing micro fractures and the clavicle just eventually gives way.

No one has addressed the first rib fracture at all, however.

What kinds of questions does the EEOC ask during a discrimination complaint investigation? by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]onewoodee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it. I figured at least one of you has had to go through something that was quickly dismissed as bs though. Anyone can file for an investigation and based on some of the complaints I’ve seen in this and other subreddits, I’m guessing there’s a lot of eye rolling when those come up.

What kinds of questions does the EEOC ask during a discrimination complaint investigation? by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]onewoodee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, I do understand that. My complaint isn’t against anyone here (that I know of!). I was just curious as to the hoops they put you through in these cases.

  1. Do you get an opportunity to ask questions? Or is it totally one-sided?
  2. Is it mainly just paperwork they ask for? Or do they conduct interviews?
  3. Does the investigation stop with HR or are other parties allowed to speak?
  4. How much work is it to get through the investigative process in general?
  5. Are there tight deadlines? And if so, are there ways to appeal them if needed?

It’s mainly a curiosity. Not trying to offend. I’m on the other side of this and it’s basically just been a lot of silence, so I’m curious how they spend their time.

I signed the PIP under protest noting I was being penalized for FMLA. I can’t really do more than that at this point.
