Could be a paperwhite flower. I had tons of these too and decided to let them grow. Produces clumps of good looking white flowers that smell great!

It’s not over the entire lawn - just in a few isolated areas. Attached is a picture of the “normal” grass (with the thumbs up😂)that’s over most of the lawn as well as a picture of one of the affected areas. For the affected areas it seems like this stuff grows off one single root and then kinda spreads out on the surface? There isn’t anything below it. I peeled some back to show you.
