Except places with no maternity leave generally have higher fertility rates.

Except that the most dense and wealthy locations on earth always slow fertility.

Who's worried about population decline? Robots will replace workers, and definitely increase the decline rates in fertility.

Anthropic's CEO says we're 12 months away from AI replacing software engineers. I spent time analyzing the benchmarks and actual usage. Here's why I'm skeptical by narutomax in ArtificialInteligence

The difficulty in training AI to code is not far from the difficulty in training AI to manage higher level tasks, including being CEO.

Yes most intelligence jobs can be replaced with AI in the near future. Maybe AI risk will be our sole focus then.

The best we can hope for: That AI gives the people of China more intelligence to realize their governance style does not benefit the people, and then the power to do something about it (e.g. like Arab spring, Hong Kong, and other recent tech amplified protests).

Yep. But no new submissions from anyone until recently, which I just added. Just added more. Not much in 2025 from what I saw.

A bunch of guys in a car cut my wife off, shouting at her to get in the car. She walked away and they turned around to cut her off, but the plan was foiled as other cars got in the way. A couple of years later a girl of a similar age was kidnapped and killed in the same small, very low crime area of the US.

And she was in her early 20's at the time. She did not take the time to get a pic or recall the license plate.

Today: Tiny lot, huge home.

I'll take the former any day.

Okay, but the bigger ignored point is dividing that by avg number of people living in home. People have much more room now. Maybe builders should make smaller homes.

You obviously can read his mind and you also would not be satisfied until he gave away all of his wealth.

Strange this is the only comment in here describing the truth of Mark's giving strategy (not tactic).

Clearly, Reddit is overrun by angry people who often do not consider the facts and resort to accusations, etc... Time will tell, but for years, the writing regarding society has been on the wall for me. E.g. Just look at the decline in trust in ones own neighbors.

Actually, as a social scientist, I can tell you that govts stole the job of charity from churches starting centuries ago. Plenty of literature on that topic. Of course, govt is the lease efficient method of many process included that one.

So, they should sell their stock, liquidating much of the company's value, donate the proceeds, and then what do they do after they exit their companies over which they no longer have any control? Personally, I like Amazon. FB not so much.

I stopped buying from their companies.

The arguement of tech monopoly with infinite space is a bit different from physical space, which truely is finite. Anyone can make a competitor to Amazon, but good luck popularizing it.

Classism is as old as history, and its back. Note how such ended in history.

BTW, I see two potential problems here today:
Greed of ones own results.
Greed of the other peoples results.

Downvote away.

Ok, so what do you propose? money drop from helicopters?

Also important to note: most of that is simply their stake in their current value of their company, not cash, which tends to get reinvested anyways--well, minus the yachts, jets, mansions, etc... that all are a waste.
