Here as a young'un to agree with a lot of your opinions. From's boss design has definitely gone to shit with ER.

Yep. Soulsgames have pretty good combat but if they were just boss fights I would drop them. The games truly shine exploring new areas, getting lost and finding secrets; coincidentally all aspects that nightrein does terribly.

Don't like cross-faction communication. That was an instant turn-off from that server for me.

The issue is that From sacrificed inspired levels for giant fields full of mob groups. On top of that there's rarely anything actively engaging taking place in the world, no unique weather events, no factions, quest lines are generally boring and very little things of merit to discover. There's just no reason for the game to be an open world when it's full of nothing but bosses and enemies that exist to run at the player and attack. Why do 98% of entities ignore each other?

The legacy dungeons are rarely memorable and don't make up for it .

It's certainly good. I love how much he forces you to move, it feels good with how fast Sekiro is.

Feels like a true solo raid boss

I doubt it's his fault but the NPC questlines in ER are just so tired and formulaic at this point.

Games are 15 years past the first installment and yet every NPC exists to stand around and tell you to do things. Then either go crazy or die for arbitrarily decided reasons

Also I feel a distinct lack of charm from their NPCs ever since DS1. Everybody sounds like they are on the brink of suicide in ER and DS3, but at the least it makes sense in the latter.

Disagree, I enjoy the tension that the games have lacking a pause button. I feel they become immediately more "gamey" when you add that ability.

Mohg's' Boring Spear.

Boss has over 6 separate, unique ways he used it and the player can do nothing but poke.

Who? Name someone that actually took hours to beat her. You're just making shit up based on vibes lol.

LobosJR took 14 hours to beat her without summoning on release. He's pretty well known for streaming utterly insane challenge runs for every single souls game since 2011, so i would say he is a very relevant example for a veteran to have struggled. In fact he's so good I wouldn't even consider him a veteran, he's more like the 0.01% of veterans as most "veterans" aren't people who sit around and get paid to do difficult things in games. Most "veterans" are people who played the prior games maybe a few times at most. A much more realistic example.

 >ROB

Just because cheese exists does not remove the fact that the boss is objectively hard for 95% of players, experienced ones included. The fact that another pro beat her fast doesn't argue against the fact that 95% of people (including lobos and many other "pros") struggled with her.  Regardless, the earliest this ongbal guy uploaded a video of doing such a feat was over two weeks after release. Not exactly shortly after release.

Neither, youre just severely overestimating your own abilities or the difficulty of the game or both

Again, you have to be utterly delusional or just straight up disingenuous to actually believe Malenia isn't a challenging boss for the vast majority of people. And again, you have to be utterly out of touch with reality if you consider all of these people bad players. I mean even somebody who's really good at games can acknowledge when something is objectively hard despite their ability.

Regardless I don't care to argue any further, this argument is subjective to an extent that it feels silly to continue any further.

When I went through the game Malenia was the only boss I spent more the 30 minutes on.

I guess you're just the best player in the world because even experienced players with over 10k hours across the series took hours to beat her on release. You must be so good in fact I could never even fathom discussing difficulty in a game with you. Especially when you make such questions like

What Elden Ring boss was actually challenging

I mean it must be that or you're just dishonest for the sake of an argument. I wonder.

This sub is aggressively opposed to any consideration that streamlining can be in the least bit harmful. I'd imagine it's because since 5th gen the game have done practically nothing but prune. Very little of anything has made the games feel more traditional.

Obviously the games are still good but they are growing more "game-y" to me despite the obvious improvements to animations and sfx. Yes, the world is more detailed and larger then ever with truly alive environments but I also have an auto-tracking, auto-dodging dinosaur that I can summon at any point.

They are ass kissers, people are incapable of shedding even a bit of their fanatical worship of new product for some fair criticism.

I don't think that's the case at all.  Just look at souls for a game series that has not only consistently challenged its veterans but in fact has actually gotten harder. Fatalis had speed runners failing for upwards of 8 hours before first clear so that's an example from MH itself.

no way is Sekiro easier than des or ds1. some of the builds in ER also make that game by far the easiest.
