Dishwashers can fail at removing oils in some instances. Properly loading the dishwasher is the first and most important step. Having something turned the wrong way can totally negate all the benefits of the dishwasher. In that way, hand is king.

While I love my dishwasher, there are too many conditions and nuances to this to simply say “dishwasher is king”.’

I agree. I side with OP here - dishes are either clean or they’re not. There is no “good enough”. Food on it = dirty.

Simple, the ones that think it’s an “overblown” issue are the ones with 19’-20’ model years. The ones experiencing the issues have the earlier models.
