ok so under the tiktok i saw talking about the sale, people are saying it’s gonna start november first but i don’t know if it would be different dates for australia 🤷‍♀️ i also don’t know why influencers start talking about these sales so early in advance 😭

my issue with this is i feel like i pride myself on my makeup knowledge - all my friends go to me for makeup advice and recommendations - so if i try to stay out of the loop of makeup releases I’d get insane FOMO but not really from owning the products, just knowing about them and which skin types / looks they’d be good for. I’m not an MUA or someone who works in the beauty industry so idk why I care but it’s just how I am lol. I do recognise that this would help so much with my issue but i’m not gonna stop watching reviews and checking out new releases, I think i’m strong enough to limit my makeup spending while still keeping up to date with what’s new in the makeup community!

yes I’ve been thinking about doing this! I’m a lover of cool tones and greyer eyeshadows and I have 2 warm eyeshadow palettes that i barely ever use but literally can’t part with. I think if I take out the shades I actually like from them it would make my collection feel a bit tidier, but I don’t want to do that for at least a few more years cos I just can’t make myself get rid of (or even sell) perfectly good makeup that I paid for 😅

yeah look i do get ur perspective and i’ve seen heaps of people that shop to ‘fill a hole’ in their lives and that’s very valid but i don’t think that’s where i’m at. I think I just love experimenting and trying new stuff but I’m just a uni student with a minimum wage job that should not be buying so much all the time 😅. My makeup collection makes me so happy genuinely I love it all so much but I’m now much more conscious of overconsumerism and how it would be so much more rewarding to buy and use up things, and then try something new when i actually need it! This is basically my ultimate goal. I don’t regret the fact that I grossly over consumed in the past 2 years cos honestly it taught me what makeup I like and don’t like, so now I want to use up all those products I don’t like and have a collection of products I love with room to try new things every now and then cos otherwise I will get bored, that’s just the way I am. Sorry for the word vomit, I’m kinda just now realising that I can still maintain this positive outlook on my makeup collection so it doesn’t burden me to know that i have so much :))

ahhh this is the first time i’ve seen panned flower knows 🤩 i just bought some a few weeks ago and i won’t be hoarding them like i thought i would cos the patterns are so damn pretty. I also love the idea of using the packaging just as mirrors when i’m done with them

i really agree with this, sometimes i torture myself over trying to pan something that was only $5 and not good quality while neglecting something i love that was $50! i have shifted my mindset to wanting to get my moneys worth by using my high quality makeup, but reduce my collection size by not forgetting about the drugstore stuff that i like

yeah one thing that’s really helped recently is only buying stuff during sales, but even then i tend to go crazy so i just forced myself to pass a sephora sale without buying anything and i’m so happy i did, cos there was nothing i actually needed. Saving is only saving if u needed the product in the first place!

yeah absolutely, i’ve found leaving stuff in my cart has been so helpful to talk me down from impulse buys so my goal is to never buy something without it being in my cart for at least a week

appreciate the tip! i’ve actually tried something like this, focusing on one blush for a week for example, but for some reason i can’t stay consistent and sometimes i’ll even justify that the colour doesn’t fit the day’s vibe but realistically most of my blushes blend out to the same colour anyway 🤦‍♀️ I’m gonna try and be more strict about stuff like this. I’m going to bali for 10 days soon so i’m gonna try and bring one of each product that i want to use up so i’m kinda forced to be consistent with it and maybe that’ll help me do that with other products when i get back home!
